Can't cut tree down

I can't cut down the trees to expand my camp, and it is the closest one... no matter witch game is a nightmare to cut one tree down. What I'm doing wrong? It's so frustranting!!!!

same here ... i have cleared one side of the map and now i can't cut the trees down on the other side =(

Same problem here. I started to clear the other side (there were no clearings to start from), but half way through the background trees stopped disappearing, and so the foreground trees never became cuttable. Most frustrating, if you're going for a quick completion time.

Looking into this, and I have a question:

Does this happen after saving/loading or is it unrelated to that?

I can't tell because i had just destroyed the portals to the right and needed to expand to the left. With me the little circle icon for a coin to cut down the trees doesn't appear

Yes, as Supposer mentioned, the background trees stop disappearing, this means that the forest edge is not "retreating" as it is supposed to. And you can only cut down trees near the edge of the forest. Sometimes the forest stops retreating after a save/load.

It is unrelated. And I later discovered in a different game that you have to keep the button pressed for a split sec more to trow the coin and actually cut the tree. Don't know now if was only that game or if I'm doing right this time :/

You always have to keep the button pressed to pay for 'floating coin indicators'. But I think that's a different issue, because according to MechanicalSpaceBeef's description, the pay icon doesn't even show up.

Back with a quick question to fix this: I have seen a couple reports of this happening after two portals on the other side have been destroyed. Is that the situation for everyone?

No, I destroyed one on right and only saw one on left, one tree on the left is stuck (uncuttable). I might have been uncuttable even before I destroyed the one on the right.
In my case, there was: Wall, Farm, Trees
I left the farm unbuilt after wall and went straight to cut the trees, that might have to do with it...

yes. after my first posting i startet at my grand pc a new game and on the laptop from my gf a second new game at all i destroed 2 portals on the same side and can't cut trees down on the other side =(

This KEEPS happening to me. It shows up around day 8 or 10 every time I play. Sometimes saving and loading fixes it. Not always. One time I decided to conquer one side completely since I couldn't build on the other. Day 90 came, still could not build to the East, had conquers all of the West. I restarted. This keeps happening. I love this game but this bug is making it unplayable. Cannot cut down nearest tree or build the nearest wall or watch on one side. This happens almost every game around day 8.

Since you can consistently reproduce this: could you perhaps send me a saved game where this is happening? (look at the pinned readme topic in this board to find your saved game location). Thanks in advance, it would greatly help me in fixing this one!

My issues are with trees ive marked to be chopped down for some reason dont get chopped down, had the builders all around, look at the tree.... then left. I don't know what that was all about lol it was nowhere near night time.
