Not accepting input (Keyboard or PS4)

Hi, I just got this game through the humble bundle monthly. i've tried reinstalling the game multiple times, verification, updating all my drivers and yet it still won't accept any input i use. keyboard, and a PS4 controller.

OS: Windows 10
Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU @ 2.30GHz
Video: NVIDIA GeForce 940M

not sure what other info you might need, i've also tried playing the sequel (?) to this and have the same issue where the screen tells me to press the arrow keys to move but nothing happens when i press them, i've tried every key on the keyboard and tried plugging in my PS4 controller and trying both analog sticks and every button to get it to do something.

Please disregard, turns out it was just my Comodo Internet Security Premium 10 acting up and auto sandboxing new programs, i've sorted it out now.
