If you'd like a change, there are other things you can do. Just grab your shade back and explore another area for a while (because like Quirrell suggests, you might fight something helpful). It's not even a required fight, you never have to complete it to finish the game. It's a very early fight though, and helps you prepare for times when you can't heal during battle (which is more common in more difficult battles later on).
If you're determined to finish this challenge immediately despite Quirrell's warning, then there are video guides you can look up to get a feel for the rhythm.
That being said, I found the fight challenging but satisfying. You absolutely cannot be greedy: avoiding damage is a higher priority than dealing it. I think this goes for a lot of HK boss fights. Take your time, go in with the expectation that you won't be able to heal, learn the patterns.
