i hate mantis lords
phase ones ok if you know what to do with each attack, but phase 2 it would be good if you HAD ANY TIME TO BREATHE WHATSOEVER AND ONE DOES THE SLAM ATTACK SO IM TRYING TO HIT THEM BUT THEN THE OTHER ONE DOES A LUNGE AND SUDDENLY IM DEAD
edit: killed mantis lords after going to like, kingdoms edge or basin or something (sometime after i got dreamnal) it was quite easy

Eventually that fight won't seem so hard (because it isn't), once you adjust to learning each fight's patterns and rhythms. This is not a dead-end, though, as this isn't a linear game. You don't have to finish that battle right now if you feel stuck. (Personally, I took Quirrell's advice my first time through, after losing a few times. I hope you didn't miss the special post-loss encounter with him.)

If you'd like a change, there are other things you can do. Just grab your shade back and explore another area for a while (because like Quirrell suggests, you might fight something helpful). It's not even a required fight, you never have to complete it to finish the game. It's a very early fight though, and helps you prepare for times when you can't heal during battle (which is more common in more difficult battles later on).

If you're determined to finish this challenge immediately despite Quirrell's warning, then there are video guides you can look up to get a feel for the rhythm.

I agree about taking Quirrel's advice. It's a lot easier with a damage (and preferably health and charm) upgrade/s.

That being said, I found the fight challenging but satisfying. You absolutely cannot be greedy: avoiding damage is a higher priority than dealing it. I think this goes for a lot of HK boss fights. Take your time, go in with the expectation that you won't be able to heal, learn the patterns.

If you haven't yet, I recommend getting a few upgrades (charms, nail, health etc). It a fight that's hard a first, but very predictable. Once you learn the attacks its not so hard.

just wait for sisters of battle
