Silksong: Why I believe it's a prequel and some speculations.
This is a late night Rant/Theory/Speculation, I apologize if my arguments don't make much sense, as my rationality has already departed for the day.
Anyway, let's get started:

Team Cherry stated that no ending is more or less canon than the others, and a sequel with Hornet as protagonist would automatically make Sealed Siblings not canon. I doubt they'd want that.

To sustain this theory there is also some cut dialogue in Hornet's Greenpath encounter, still present in the french translation, stating that "it took her too much time to get back." Implying that she has been away from hallownest for considerably long time.

But you probably knew all of this already. Who here doesn't watch Mossbag?

The main complaint of the community is that if it turns out to be a prequel, we will already know from the start that nothing even remotely bad happens to Hornet in any ending. I don't think that's that big of a deal. Pharloom isn't in ruin like Hallownest, it seems those bugs can still be saved, they're not dead, but in a trance. It's also noticeable from how the more colorful and cheerful tone of the first is in contrast with the darker and more depressing one of the second.

What I'm trying to say is that most likely the endings will be focused more on the fate of Pharloom. This kingdom might be born anew, or it might sink like many before it.

"bUt thIS WouLd leAVe ThE GRimM TroUpE ouT"

Yes, those are good characters and I too would like to have more lore about them, but the devs shouldn't be forced to reuse specific characters just because they are fan favorites. This might be why they killed off most of them

Besides, it's heavily implied that Grimm knew the Pale King in person so unless he transfers his mind and memories to the body of the GrimmChild that takes his place when the ritual ends, there's no chance that the troupe has been to or completed any ritual in Pharloom.

Your arguments make fine sense as far as I can tell. I still think anything is possible though. I don't want to make any decisions in advance about what Silksong might be, as I'd like to have the most minimal expectations possible in order to be able to appreciate it for what it is (and not project something else I want it to be onto it), once it does come out.

Sealed Siblings can remain canon with a non-prequel Silksong if there's a proper explanation given for Dreamer Hornet being able to wake up (or it could occur in a dream world - maybe a world that is real and persists, but only exists in dreams).

Interesting dialogue to be sure. So Silksong will have to be a prequel for French speaking countries only. (Kidding! Seems my ability to resist making bad jokes withers late in the day.)

We'll know that she can't die if it's a prequel, but there are other bad things that can happen (or be taken away from her).

Yes, I suspect Pharloom and its fate will have to be of some importance (hopefully with deep ties to the HK storyline).

I love the Grimm Troupe but I wasn't expecting them to play a big part in Silksong. Also, if it's not a prequel there's also the problem of whether we see Brumm and a Grimm's offspring/replacement or Nym and no Grimmchild/replacement. :/

I think it's unlikely Grimm Troupe will play much of a role in Silksong because I don't think TC wants go too far in the direction of reusing old characters (other than Hornet obviously since it's her story). That said, it would be interesting if we saw a new, improved Bretta show up. Or if Pharloom turns out to be a dream world where anything is possible, you could have Cloth both there and not there as well.

All of this said, I'm not sure if they'll truly stick with the all endings remaining canon thing. I wouldn't be surprised if they drifted from that statement.
Honestly, I don't WANT it to be a prequel because prequels are 99% of the time incredibly boring.
But regarding your proof...
I don't actually think that holds that much water because both the statement of
"Every ending is equally valid" and that translation was done when Silksong wasn't a thing yet.
Aka, when the Hornet part was meant to be a DLC added to Hollow knight as a whole.

However, since Silksong has been separated into its own game, AFTER the fact, (Unless specified otherwise by team cherry) does those answers become moot as there is a completely new game in the works and the situation has changed.

Besides, a prequel doesn't really work. Because that would mean that Hornet was (for some reason) away from Hallownest and didn't think the first thing to do should be to run back home to protect it.

In the trailer you can see the introduction cutscene, that she was captured and brought there. She manages to escape when some sort of small butterfly lands on top of her cage, breaking some sort of seal of binding, she then uses her strings to break the bridge her captors are towing her through. TC claims that the bindings made her "lose her characteristical strenght and she has to go to the top of the kingdom to get it back". Sure, their view might have changed as this statement is a bit old, but we have both a reason why she was there and why she didn't turn back immediately.

I am just saying.
A lot of the "Prequel" proof is based around old info that came around before silksongs creation became a thing.
So it is 100% possible that none of it is accurate anymore.
(And I will be hoenst, I 100% prefer them actually stating that one ending is canon than them making a prequel)
