Questions about the infection
This has probably been asked or answered before but I would like to know...

I've seen some comments about Hollow Knight about the infection. While some people said a thing, others told something different about it. I wasn't sure which side to choose though...

What I'm talking about is if someone infected can be cured when we defeat the Radiance. I accidently killed Myla thinking that a husk miner took her place because I got the Desolate Dive after the Crystal Heart and she was fine. Some people said that she might have a good ending if we didn't kill her but others said that killing her can put her out of her misery.

Also, I've noticed different stages of the infection in the game. Bretta and Sly could be cured because they seemed to be at the first stage but other insects like the moss prophet died. The infection starts to corrupt the mind then radical physical changes occur. I wonder when it is too late to come back to a normal state.

I'm reposting this here because apparently I asked my question in the wrong thread.

Some points on one side of it:
1. As you said, we see some characters recovering from infection.
2. Some endings show the orange of the infection subtly fading away in the background as a result of the main character's actions.
3. Logically, if the Radiance is the source of the infection, and if the infection is properly sealed away with no "leaks," then Radiance can't hurt anyone when fully sealed.

On the other hand:
1. We also know some characters are either immune or just more capable of resisting than Myla was (and she definitely tries to resist).
2. It's possible only the last two endings that can be unlocked put an end to the Radiance's revenge, and other endings are only temporary solutions, if they even work at all.
3. It's possible there's both a physical and a mental "infection" as separate things (hence the orange goop), and any ending we get only puts a stop to the mind control aspect of the Radiance's vengeance, but a bodily infection could still remain if someone was already infected before she was defeated/died. There might also be some lingering aftereffects of the mind control aspect of the infection even after it's gone.

Moss Prophet was a special case. Nobody welcomed the infection more than that guy, lol. Even Traitor Lord would probably shake his head.

You played Hollow Knight far enough, and you already know how vague this game is and how much is open for our own interpretation 🙂 There are probably no really black and white and definitive answers in this game. What you believe is what you choose to believe.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
