Hollow Knight
Hegemol Theory
Quickly just wanted to share an idea that I had about Hegemol. So the armor was created for a small creature since the Maggot can fit in the armor. I think that Pale Lurker might be Hegemol. First off, Pale Lurker was obviously strong since he/she was the champion of the colleseum and maybe even so good that he/she was recruited by the king. Secondly he/she has the word Pale in his/her name which usually means that they are related in some way to the king and furthermore, his/her dream nail dialouge states "For me! For you! For King!". Sorry that I did a bad job at explaining my theory but that is basically all I can think of right now, I will elaborate more once I wake up.

Not sure, The Pale lurker is apparently female.

Any proof that Hehemol isn't

If you talk to Sheo after sparing the Nailsmith he calls Hegemol ‘he’.
Well that ruined this entire theory that I was excited to share

If you want an alternative to think about, the Watcher Knights, False Knight and Hunter share the exact same battle them. I wonder if there is any connection between them. 🤔

Interesting better start looking through the lore

I support the idea that it might be a small creature, still alive somewhere.
The nailsmith states that hegemol was "soft spoken" so that isn't completely crushative of the theory. It's an interesting idea nonetheless.

If only Pale Lurker wasn't a girl but we can't leave out the idea that people call Hegrmol a he because they have that armor that makes them look masculine. Always a possibility.

Just because someone pretends to be a he doesnt mean he is a he. Maybe other people assumed it, and "hegemol" never even stated that "he" was a "he." I doubt the pale lurker is hegemol though

Yeah I was just extremely entrigued when I watched Mossbags video on the expansion and him saying that things with Pale in their name usually have something to do with the king

Is there a new one or is it just the godmaster one?

Godmaster one
Its blatantly obvious that Ogrim is a Dung Beetle, but what about the others?

Based on the design of Hedgemol's armor, I think he was a Hercules Beetle, or at very least, something in the Dynastinae family. If he were a smaller creature piloting an exosuit, perhaps a grub then? Could Grubdad be Hedgemol? Probably not.

Xemer looks to be some sort of dart moth, possibly this one: http://montgomeryshiremoths.org.uk/macro%20moths/pics_large/2080%20Square-spot%20Dart_2.jpg

Isma appears to have very long antennae & thicc legs, so maybe she's a cricket or a katydid. Though her mask does have 6 eyes, that doesn't mean she has 6 true eyes. Its possible that the reason some masks in-game have multiple sets of eyes is based on how some insects have false eyes IRL(wasps being a notable example of this).

I'm not too sure about Dryya though. I really can't tell what she is.

Then again, I can't expect everything to be accurate to their insipration.
After all, the female mantis in the game are small, slender, and dull-colored compared to the male who is large, bulky, and comparitively more vibrant in color... while the opposite is true IRL.

Actually, the Traitor Lord was bigger than his sisters because the infection, before it probably was the smaller Lord, maybe the smallest adult in the tribe.
About people assuming Hegemol's gender based in it's armor, it's totally plausible, but there's nothing confirmed. There's theories about Sly being Hegemol 'cause the size of his nail (not that "nail", but the one he uses in combat) and 'cause the three nailmasters (or at least Sheo) are/is Hegemol's fan(s).
"Mighty Hegemol was always my favorite. What a towering figure he was, though surprisingly soft spoken for one so large." -Nailmaster Sheo
