The best way to handel the flower is to clear out all of the enemies on the path you want to take, and do NOT rest on any benches(otherwise they'll all respawn), and place a Gate down by the Mourner incase you get hit(so you don't have to walk all the way back again).
What you can do, however, is to change your charm collection strategy to make this challenge a little bit easier. For example you can try to "overcharm" (use more charms than allowed). The "double damage" penalty when doing this can be ignored since you will fail the quest anyway if hit once. If this happens just reload the last save state. Just make sure your last bench was the one near the Grey Mourner's home (*). For your charm collection ignore everything that has to do with reducing damage, healing faster or raising your life energy for the same reasons. Furthermore, of great help is the carm "Grubberfly's Elegy" (you can get it from Grubfather after finding all hidden 46 grubs), that gives you a range attack with your nail at full health. Since the quests requires always full health anyway, there is no real reason not to use it.
(*) Be aware that if you use it, all emenies will respawn. Maybe you want to clear the path a little bit from enemies before taking the flower.
Strategy #2: If you sent all hidden grubs back to the Grubfather, you can get the charm "Grubberfly's Elegy" from him, that give you a ranged nail attack at full health. With this you can attack the massive Flukemongas in the sewers from below where you are safe from them. It just takes some time to get enough hits.
