Secret path Grimm Troupe (Spoilers)

Hey guys,

have been playing with the new content lately. I just wanted to share a discovery I made while doing the Grimm Troupe quest line, which I have not seen anyone mention here.

When you get access to Nightmare King and go past the room where you fought Grimm there is a hidden shaft above in that corridor. Going up that shaft by walljumping you eventually find a small room to the left with some kind of umm... thing. I have no idea what it's supposed to portray and I did not find any way to interact with it. So I completed the quest by defeating Nightmare King hoping that it would have any function later, but as the tent vanishes upon completion there is no way to access that place anymore.

Anyone got some thoughts about this?

Yes you are right, chest give you a notch, still, those chests could represent the warriors that defeated previous Grimms (if that is the case, the grimm would be in its 5th life cycle).
Yes, those bodies appear in both fights, that is what I meant when I said they could be part of the ritual. The Grim speaked about the battle as a dance or something, so maybe the flame watchers (or whatever they are) are involved in witnissing it.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the guys you need to fight for the flames, not the audience. Though they're the same I guess.

I have absolutely no idea what that thing is - my first thought was that it's some kind of device that leads the Grimm Troupe to the Nightmare Lanterns. Like it's some kind of machine for navigating through dreams to the locations of fallen kingdoms. I like the idea that it's some kind of map for other kingdoms that the Troupe has visited.

But whatever the case, great find! This is the first I've heard of this thing, you may be the very first player to have discovered it!

Yeah... your reactions were pretty much the same as mine, I don't know what to make of it, it's rather abstract I would say. First when I saw it I got some kind of time traveling vibe, or like a teleportation machine of some sort. But maybe that's just my wild imagination ;)

Well I'm not very educated in the lore of this world, but it's certainly exciting to be able to contribute to the community with such things :)

No problem! This whole thing makes me want to go around the entire map jumping into the roof wherever possible. It's the same as how the Grub image is just through a hidden tunnel aboive the Collector fight, and I imagine there are probably more things like this hidden around.

Side Note: If anyone has anything they'd like me to try, bring it up within the next few hours, I'm probably gonna finish with banishing the Troupe tonight.

I know right, I think I have developed some kind of habit in these type of games going around bumping into and slicing every wall in my sight haha... But I love these hidden little secrets, it brings me back to the old adventure games and stuff like that. I just wish it would give us more of a reward for finding these things.

Just a thought before you banish the troupe... maybe it's worth trying to enter that room with different charms equiped? I mean it has worked before in some instances.

Unless it requires a specific charm combination, nothing. Though, interesting to note, this is directly above the center of the room you fight Grimm in. Maybe it's where they manipulate those spotlights from, or it's a 'dressing room' for Grimm.

Also, there's nothing in the same spot in the Nightmare King fight.

Huh.... it actually makes me think of.... a puppeteer's control bar thing, like for marionettes. I kinda wonder if Grimm actually deploys a fake audience from there (as opposed to real beings watching you fight Grimm) into the area, and that controls them?

Well, the Troupe has been banished, so I will be unable to test anything else. Something I thought of but didn't want to check just in case it locked me out was to try leaving after Brumm starts to destroy the lantern. Does anyone know if you can leave in the middle of banishing them?

When you go to banish Grimm you need to hit the embers several times before it goes into cutscene mode, at any time before the final strike you can leave with no consequences.

I was hoping that one specific charm would activate some kind of portal transporting you to another place or time. Speaking of which, I'm pretty sure I also tried to dream nail it first when I found it, with no effect.

I do wonder if it's just there for us to speculate, or if it has any greater meaning. It's probably connected to the lore somehow, but it might also be a hint for future things to come.

If you use spells on this apparatus it has a red barrier around it in the shape of, what looks to be, a circus tent. I know this thread is old, but this seemed like the place for this.

Interesting, I almost definitely tried hitting it with spells before, but it never did anything like that when I did. Maybe Team Cherry added that in Lifeblood or Godmaster.
