Secret path Grimm Troupe (Spoilers)
Hey guys,

have been playing with the new content lately. I just wanted to share a discovery I made while doing the Grimm Troupe quest line, which I have not seen anyone mention here.

When you get access to Nightmare King and go past the room where you fought Grimm there is a hidden shaft above in that corridor. Going up that shaft by walljumping you eventually find a small room to the left with some kind of umm... thing. I have no idea what it's supposed to portray and I did not find any way to interact with it. So I completed the quest by defeating Nightmare King hoping that it would have any function later, but as the tent vanishes upon completion there is no way to access that place anymore.

Anyone got some thoughts about this?

Anyone have a screenshot? I'm quite curious about that. What kind of "thing" is up there?
Mazz Nov 4, 2017 @ 10:25pm
Unfortunately I did not take any screenshots. Hmm well its hard to explain, from what I remember it looked like some kind of metallic cage-looking object, sort of hanging from the ceiling i think. You could go past it, and when striking it with the nail it made that bouncing sound like when you hit spikes. Maybe someone else that have not killed Nightmare King could go check it out and screenshot it?

Did it look anything like these?

Or was it more like the thing in Beast's Den a few rooms down from Herrah?

No not like them. It was more like an object in that room, that you could hit, but not obstructing the path. It did not look like any kind of symbol/drawing, but more like a shape. Think of it like a giant metallic chandelier, but it was not that.

It did not look anything like that one either, it was much simplier to the design, clearly not an animal/bug type of thing. Think of it like a giant whisk if it makes any sense haha... I have not seen anything like it before from what i remember.

Huh, odd. Now I’m even more curious. The only thing I can think of that’s even remotely like that is the cage Zote is in at the Colosseum.

Yea thats probably the only thing that shares any resemblance at all. Still it did not look like a cage in that sense. It had kind of curved bars but fewer and more space in between. I find it strange that you could only access it before the Nightmare King, I wonder if it does have any relation to the story in the future.

I did some research and could not find anything on this matter, Im tempted to play this through again, but knowing the effort it takes to reach that point... I guess I'll wait to see if someone with the uncompleted quest could check it out first. Did you do the ritual too?

Yeah, I've done the ritual already. I have another file that is at 100%, but I haven't started the Grimm Troupe on it yet. I might do that later today and get the banishment achievement.
Mazz Nov 5, 2017 @ 1:06pm
Oh I see. I have not done the banishment myself but I wonder if you get access past the Grimm room if you go for that route. I dont remember if it unlocks that corridor right after the fight. But if you do try, it would be interesting to see.
Darc Vader Nov 5, 2017 @ 1:08pm
I think it should still open, unless collecting all the flames locks you out of banishing the Troupe I don't see why you couldn't go in and just not dream nail Grimm.
Mazz Nov 5, 2017 @ 1:29pm
Yeah it's worth a try, but from what I remember when I collected the three flames needed for Nightmare King, the forth one in Distant village disappeared. I dont know if that triggered the passage, but I guess we will find out.

Made sure to get the one in Distant Village first.

No idea what it is, maybe it's what the Troupe uses to brainwash their servants or something. All the things in the background seem to be masks, and the Maskmaker seems to imply that wearing a mask changes the one wearing it over time.

I'll leave off here for a bit before going through with banishing the Tropue in case anyone sees this and has any ideas for me to try.

edit: fixed image

I am not really good in understanding the lore. But could it be that each chest represent a world/universe/city they previously traveled to? Because that is how you get the grimchild charm, by opening a chest that looks really similar to that. I can also see each chest is slightly different, maybe it means each Grimm had its own personality and slightly different body.
The bodies in the back look like the flame enemies you have to kill to raise the grimchild, maybe they keep their bodies for the nightmare ritual? No idea, hope anybody cares to explain, just my 2 cents.
edit: no idea about the artifact in the center, could it be an artifact used to travel and or localize people who started the ritual?

The chest actually gives you a charm notch, Grimm himself gives you Grimmchild. One thing that makes me think of though, the bodies/masks look like the audience for bothGrimm fights, and the thing in the middle is slightly reminiscent of the heart(?) that Nightmare King Grimm emerges from. Perhaps this is an altar to the Nightmare King or something.
