Path of pain have the most disapointing reward in the entire game. I mean there is no reward. If you beat zoth 10 times you get golden zoth, but path of pain just gives you nothing. (Sorry for bad english)

You get the satisfaction of having overcome the obstacle as well as great lore.

And, you still get an in-game achievement in the form of the journal entry.
