When does the Infection happen?
I'm curious to know exactly when the Infection spreads to the beginning areas, as I'm aiming to do the Rose quest and I hear it's FAR easier to do without dealing with explosive bugs.

Either after you get the monarch wings or after you slay the first Dreamer. Whichever comes first.

After the Monarch Wings? Damn, those are so useful for avoiding damage, too... Guess I'll have to look up a proper guide for this, after all.

I did it after the infection, and it is honestly not that bad.
The exploding bugs only explode upon contact, if you are good enough with your jumping, can you avoid them with ease.
No, I would say the infected flyers are the real pain in the ass.
You should generally avoid as much as you can of the infested crossroads.

Considering I'm a keyboard user, I'll have to aim for before Infected just to be extra safe. Unless you have a much easier route to use...?

I am also a keyboard user xD
IF I remember correctly, I moved trough the restin grounds, out close to the charm seller, down the hatch to the city of tears, trough the fungal wastes, to the queens station, from there to the grave.
(IF I remember correctly, it was a while ago)

Fungal sounds like a scary place to traverse... Then again, I never found the Gardens until after I explored everywhere else the last time I played, so maybe I'm the weird one. xD

There's always the cheap strategy of going along your path beforehand and murdering everything on the route without ever sitting on a bench, then going back along the route without using a bench.
That takes out most of the dangerous enemies, including all of the new Infected Crossroads ones, although Fog Canyon can still be tricky if you're not careful.
I am QUITE sure... that they respawn even if you do that.

See, that's what I thought, too. Pretty sure they respawn once you leave a "zone", if not just a section.

Simple enemies like Vengeflies that pose little threat will respawn upon exiting a room, but the more dangerous ones like the husks, the big jellyfish, and, most importantly, infected Vengflies don't respawn until you sit on a bench (or close the game).
Huh... Good to know, I suppose.
