So, Just got Howling Wraiths

This spell is cool! Is it just another attack spell, or does it have an exploration function too, like the Descending Dark?

It's just for damage. To my knowledge, there are no uses for it outside of combat. It's an optional upgrade.

The thread right above, "Abyss question," gives what appears to be a non-combat use for the Howling Wraiths. I've never tried it myself and never knew about it before seeing that thread.

You're claiming that the non-combat use of Howling Wraiths is to........ upgrade itself? Think for a moment what you are saying.

No exploration means, but this is only way to damage most enemies hanging from cellar (like not moving mawleks, or shooting flowers)

I'm fairly certain that mawlek enemy is the only one in the game you need the spell for. You can reflect the projectiles back up at the flowers.
