Are there harder bosses than the Mantis Lords in the game?
I'm just asking it, because I'm stuck at this boss fight for hours now, and I start to get very frustrated because of it. It's an extremely huge difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game (so far I played 7 and 30 hours, but I think at least 2:30 of it was trying to defeat this boss without any success). I read that it's optional, but I don't really know where should I go, so I thought I defeat it because it's in my way. I still have 5 health BTW.

best thing to do is beat #1, then when #2 and #3 fight together, ignore #2 and attack 3 (attacking 2 will likely result in 3 hitting you). Once #3 dies, its just 1 on 1 again.

There are harder bosses but almost all of them are optional.
You always can revisit them later when you are stronger.

It's usually a bad idea to fight the Mantis Lords immediately when you unlock them. I mean, as you just proved, it's certainly possible, but even having a single upgrade to your Nail cuts the amount of hits you need to inflict in half.

This is a backtrack-heavy game. Don't be afraid to come back later, when you're stronger (and learned more as a player) and try again.

Also DON'T GO INTO DEEPNEST YET. You'll regret it.

What? Are you saying it's possible to upgrade my weapon??

Go to the city. Up and to the right of where the mantis are. Keep playing the game. Talk to the NPCs and listen closely what they say.

Also, congrats on trying out your first exploration-heavy game, I guess.

That's probably why you had trouble-doing the Lords without the upgrade is...difficult, to say the least.

There are harder bosses, but they're few, far in between, and optional if you don't try for the true ending.

Where can I upgrade my weapon?

I completed more than 600 single player games, some of them were very similar to this (Guacamelee for example is a great Metroidvania game I completed 100%). I try to explore every bit of the map as I can in this game to, but I did not have a single clue I can upgrade my weapon, LOL. I saved a bunch of NPCs though. They are in Dirtmouth now.

BTW I read I can find the Blacksmith in the City (of Tears). Do I need to kill the boss there before it?

EDIT: Never mind, it looks like I found him. :D
