The simplest way to deal with it is by equipping Hiveblood charm. This will give you regeneration. You can then repeat the spike traps infinitely until you succeed.
Another option is just skipping most of it. See this video for shortcuts.

Hiveblood Hiveblood Hiveblood.
Equip Hiveblood. Thank me later.
For what it's worth, I thought the area was a nice change of pace. Also, most of those skips are reportedly patched out in the latest release.
I think the White Palace was a good idea, I just don't necessarily think it was implemented in the best possible way. It's one of those things that isn't going to change, I'm sure, so Hive Blood and grub charm are one's only friends.
For me it was the most disappointing area of the game just because it felt so weird and out of sync with the rest of the experience. If they'd given it different art and made it an optional zone in a place that made more sense in the world I probably would've loved it.
It is an unforgiving slog of misery... but damn do you feel elevated once you reach the end.
And having done so... it wasn't really that long. Frustrating, but nowhere near impossible.
It's like the bosses, you have to study the dance...
I think it'd be perfect all around if it was just a little bit more forgiving with its window of precision.
Thanks for all the info and tips! True lifesaver.
I'm so over this seeminggly new phenomenon of people just complaining that something is hard as if that in itself is some kind of problem.
also this
The game offers you every opportunity to make even the hardest part of the game trivial, but you'll still choose to complain about it as if it isn't your own inadequacy that is the issue here.
It's a very strange area and not inkeeping with the rest of the game.
As much as I agree that a challange isn't a problem, you don't have to sound like an ass, dude.
I'm so over this elitist attitude people have when something they like is opposed for any reason.
Do I think the game needs more checkpoints? No.
Do I think the game needs an easy mode? No.
Do I think the inherent challenge is what makes the game reqarding? Yes.
Do I think all games should be for all people? No, the same way I don't think FIFA should be changed to suit my tastes. I think it's boring, repetative drivel, but other people like it and more power to 'em!
That being said, White Palace comes up ALOT and with justifiable reasons beyond "it's hard" that deserve more discussion than just "git gud".
Part of the problem currently comes from the hitching, so hopefully that'll be fixed.
There's a clear issue with hitscan that can cause the game to stutter just befor you get hit, even if you would have had time to avoid the hit. With the stutter you lose that chance. Get hit. GG.
Similarly the game has issues with stored inputs and "eating" inputs at times.
I know I'm not the only person who's had those moments of "why didn't you double jump, I pressed the button?" and similarly "why the hell did you flap the second I jumped?!"
It's not a controller issue, I've tried a few to check and I've seen other people mention it.
Ususally these minor issues can be glossed over or ignored, but in White Palace they mean another death.
Another issue, and my personal gripe, is the bizzare style of the place.
The scenery is gorgeous; that pure dreamlike look made it really stand out as otherworldly and special.
Then there's buzzsaws.
Giant buzzsaws.
Everywhere.
In nonsense floating configurations clearly designed for platforming and nothing else.
It was just so jarring, so...videogamey. Y'know?
I know it's a dream, but why was anyone dreaming about buzzsaw gauntlets?
Everywhere else feels natural and the platforms/obsticles are places in ways that make sense.
Just throwing in giant floating killer hit boxes felt really lame...
The beautiful palace, with people walking around calmly inside just had giant hovering death blades for no reason?
Another issue I had, although admittedly minor one, but it happened twice, was that the pretty floating sparkles in the overlay decided to appear over my character just as I'm trying to line up a walljump. For a couple of seconds I couldn't see myself and it cost me another life.
I was pretty salty about that one =P
For the record I completed White Palace.
I didn't have Hiveblood, and to my admitted shame I only found one minor shortcut, so you could say I took the long way around.
Yes, completing it was euphoric but it's the one part in the game the journey didn't feel worth the frustration to get there.
So my skill can be questioned just fine, I'll accept the git guds, but when even people defending the area are saying "use regenerating health and skip as much as you can with these shortcuts" that doesn't actually make the place seem all that great...
