Deepnest Map - where to buy?

Basically title.

I googled, and saw an image of the map, yet no matter how I look I cannot see the NPC icon for the map dude to buy a map from. Another post I found on google claims that the map dude can be found on the map you get to after accessing Deepnest from the Mantis Village, but that's not true. I'd definitely would have heard his hums had he been there.

Right now I'm lost god knows where in the Deepnest and without a map with my amazingly poor navigation skills I'm literally just ♥♥♥♥ed. I'm in the "Soul Spring" room with a bench on it .. and I know I could cross reference the image I found but that still doesn't help me find the map dude -_-

Get in from the Mantis Village and there will be a way up somewhere early in the Deepnest. He is scared and hidden behind a desk or whatever that was and he isnt humming. One more thing, you can only see the top of his head and he's on the first screen/section/area so don't wander off deeper.

I can't find him either. I entered from Mantis Village and went right to where he should be, but he's not there. No guy, no table. Right when you fall and it says Deepnest, I went to the left and up. Didn't leave the area. And I've checked the entire area and there is no map guy.

I believe I figured it out. You have to go to Dirtmouth and visit the map dudes wife. She will say they have more in stock. Then you can actually buy the map from her! Didn't even meet the guy in Deepnest

^ This is accurate. When you enter Deepnest after the Mantis Lords, the very first narrow passage leading upwards will get you to him. He will be cowering behind some rocks so that only the top of his head is visible and will not be humming. He will in fact state that he was scared of the area and thus had barely mapped out anything, before selling the map for a pretty cheap price.

If he's not there then it's likely you have already progressed the game far enough that Cornifer has disappeared from that area and you will be forced to buy it from the shop in Dirtmouth.
