Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight

Your most hated boss? :)
Which boss makes you groan the most of meeting? Which boss do you wish you could just skip or ignore? :) I haven't fully done the 100% of the game yet. (I am at 77% and at the "last" boss.)
But so far, the boss that made me groan the most, was...

Soul Master. He himself wasn't really a difficult boss. (okay he was a bit difficult, but notrage worthy)

HOWEVER.. the reason I hated him was the location. SO FAR from any bench. (that I had access to at that time). I had to run from the bench at the Stag station all the way to his chambers, cursing every time I passed into a new room.

So despite it only taking about 5 times to beat him, It took maybe 17 minutes longer than it should have because of that tracking path.

I'm having issues with the Watcher Knights. Also WHY DOES IT SPAWN THE SHADE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ARENA WHAT THE HELL
Man, Watcher Knights handed me my ass about 30 times before I used a cheat to get past them. Not fun, hard as hell. Simply too much for me.
I wouldn't say they are cheatworthy.. xD tho they are quite the tricky bunch.
after finishing thegame i would say the soul TYRANT instead of the soul master i still agree with the secret one in the crossroads

Go back and beat them for real.
I hate Hornet 2. So much. Absolutely no opportunities to heal and as much spam as the Failed Champion. I only managed to beat her by cheesing with Hiveblood + Glowing Womb and even then it was still a pain. For some reason, I never had any difficulty with Soul Tyrant. The homing projectiles are pretty simple to dodge, the shockwave slam is relatively straightforward, and the projectile shield bit can be avoided by standing still in a certain place.
I really hated Failed Champion on my early playthroughs... he took me so many attempts. Though on my latest run where I did the speed 100% completion achievement, I did the dream bosses pretty much as the last thing in the game when I had the pure nail and all the other upgrades, and I somehow defeated all of the dream bosses really easily. I didn't really have any problem with the patterns. I was especially surprised by the Lost Kin fight, that was over so quickly. Preparation is everything, I guess.
Oh yeah, if there's one boss I really hate, it's that laser-hand miniboss guy in the upstairs room at the bench in Crystal Peak, who hits you for 2 damage with everything. I terminated him with extreme prejudice by equipping quickslash, fragile health and joni's blessing, and then just wailed on him ignoring everything he did to me. I still had more than half health left when the fight was done, so I probably didn't even need all the lifeblood stuff, but it sure is comforting to go into that fight with ~20HP.
I am loving this thread! It's amazing to see all the different play styles. Bosses I thought were simple are hard for others, where they beat bosses I had problems with easily. BZ all
I lost the most times to the Watcher Knights (like 10 times). But that was relatively early on. And I didn't know you could break the chandallier.

Lost Kin kicked my ass so hard. Then I happened to watch a video of someone fighting him with Defender's Crest and Spore Shroom and was like "Why didn't I think of that?" Makes that fight MUCH easier. Basically negates those infection ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that follow you around the whole fight.

There's a few bosses you can cheese with +damage stuff and just racing them. I always fought it cautiously, and only hit once, maybe twice if it was jumping. The problem is that if you're midswing, Guardian will probably have a chance to fire his laser and hit you for 2, so you just have to take it slowly.

My favorite cheese tactic is the Abyss Shriek and Shaman charm for extra damage. I killed most warrior dreams in maybe 4 uses at most, plus a few sword hits. Unfortunately, it needs the brand and abyss to get, so you're pretty much by the lategame by that point
Abyss Shriek + Shaman Stone is the single most powerful attack in the game. It utterly destroys the Soul Tyrant :steammocking:

What? That's not what I did.
Even after lifeblood.
Flukemarm just sits in the middle being disgusting and only spewing out more and more flukes.
Team cherry, you had one job...
And you only made him have another immunity.

Not a boss, but i hate Trial of Fools. I'm at 99% right now and i just need that last bit. Trying to do it for 6 hours already and can't even make any progress, just can't make it past "hang on the wall" fight.

All the encounters are so random and frustrating, like one time you can easily kill that one annoying triple-bullet fly and kill the rest of the enemies easily and the other time you will accidently miss a hit and then get hit by this fly like 2-4 times. No time to heal. No place for mistakes.

This one thing kinda ruined all the good stuff which is experienced in this game.
P.S. If you guys have any tips except for "git gud" ones i will be very grateful.
1. GrimmChild is useful for getting rid of enemies.Use great slash for the no floor section. When it get's really small and the mosquitoes appear use spells.Shade soul is best

Note, that I don't think Grimmchild was in the game at the time of posting this. xD
Markoth. I've lost multiple pantheon of hallownest runs to him. Somebody grab me a fork, because I'd like to stab out my eyes.
