Any tips for a beginner?

I'm on my first playthrough of Hollow Knight and i wanted to ask if some of you have tips? Im still in Forgotten Crossroads (I think there are more areas) and i've got a map and the little ghost thingy when you press focus, but i haven't yet beaten the false knight. By the way, do you need to beat the false knight to progress? Cause i've been a little stuck and most of the times i just walk in loops

I'm not really going to argue against this, do whatever you want, but I find it very disingenuous to make that connection. The discussion board is to discuss topics, preferably if nobody else brought up the topics before. I just recently asked if anyone enjoyed the Godmaster DLC or not. I can't google that.
To me, these sort of threads come across more like "just wanting to chat, to be social", then to actually look for advice. Since, again, there's so much of that already easily accessible online.

Please stop making up rules about the forums that don't exist. If someone can post a thread and get a few interested people to respond then there's no harm in it. Maybe some people LIKE giving tips. So many of these boards are half-dead anyway...I don't think we need to find ways to have even less discussion.

Who says they can't be both? Again, why have some set of rules for discussion? Let the conversation flow as it will.

beat false knight. don't skip him cause he has some useful loot that you can't progress very far without. if you're having trouble, just keep practicing because there are no serious upgrades you can get later on that will help you beat him.

One of the best Metroidvania's in last 20 yrs. Give it time and patience you will be rewarded extremely well. It can be frustrating, but the Music(Master Class), atmosphere, gameplay always brings me back. Glad you stuck with it!
