question about the game
Will this game get any better soon? Because I'm slowly starting to get bored, I've just reached Hornet

For me personally the game clicked in the fungal wastes area with mushrooms and stuff. It just randomly all started to make sense. But id encourage not to have a mindset of "when is the moment the game will become fun?" rather simply play for couple more hours and see from there

That's about when the game starts to shine.
For me the Mantis Lords fight (typically the next real boss battle, after Hornet) is when the game clicked for me....
yeah, just keep going for a bit and see if you like it. if not, maybe try again in a few years (that seems to work for a lot of people)
The game starts slowly. And there is a lot of backtracking, but at some point you'll travel the map with ease. There are different upgrades to unlock, a lot of enemies and many boss fights of different difficulty. But you have to get there, and the game starts slowly.
It's up to you, either you keep playing or just move on to the next thing on your list.
this game is kinda a slow burner. but once you start to understand the lore and well.. what your supposed to be doing, it gets really good

I'll never really understand this sentiment. The game had me hooked after only a few minutes of being able to explore the Forgotten Crossroads however I pleased.

I’m genuinely surprised you find Hollow Knight boring. I can’t relate to that at all. Is this your first time playing a single-player or exploration-based game? I'm not even a big fan of platform games, but the music, atmosphere, and world design had me hooked almost immediately.

Hollow Knight isn’t a game that lays everything out for you. It has a strong start, but it really shines the more you explore and piece things together yourself. If you're used to games that guide you from point A to B with clear objectives, I can see how this might feel slow or overwhelming at first.

Four hours is still very early. If you're willing to let the game lead you by curiosity rather than instruction, it absolutely gets better. Give it a bit more time and try to embrace the unknown. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but if it clicks, it's unforgettable.

I felt the beginning of the game was boring, too. The game didn’t really get good until the Mantis Lords…. I’m like 6 hours into game at this point…. That fight was the turning point….
Also now I had the Dash and claw, and finally figured out about How to pogo…
The game felt to simplistic, up to this point… then it didn’t.

Also I was coming off beating Metroid Dread… So which is action packed from the beginning, and you were given a reason for why you are there…
The lack of reason for what you are doing, didn’t help.

It doesnt. Sure there are interesting boss fights you can get to, but the time in between is a huge slog which is what you are experiencing and no it doesnt get better

Well, for me that's when it actually ended. After trying to beat Hornet for several dozens of times - I had to decide this game just is not for me. Pity because a lot of other things really clicked for me.
I usually play games to have fun. If I have fun, I may decide to play the game to really "git gud".
But if I have to "git god" first before I can start to overcome intentional frustration and have fun, that's usually a game breaker for me...
Just putting in a difficulty slider to not totally exclude casual or maybe not so skillfull players sure would not have done any harm to anyone... :(
About 15+ more hours of gameplay for me to reach the fun parts.

I wouldn't say that the game requires anyone to git gud. Hornet, for example, is audio cues (since she calls out many of her attacks) and just getting into her face. Same with most of the enemies, really: audio cues, and don't hang back. The game sometimes punishes sitting back and waiting since it allows enemies to just keep attacking.

That said, it may well be that the game just isn't for you. If you weren't having fun, don't play it. Move onto something else. You can't force fun, and some things just won't be to your taste.
If you are on PC? Use the mods to make the notch costs far less, and the need to hunt down your shade for reclaiming your geo is removed.

I play Hollow Knight now for fun - and the desire for that intense, 'souls-like' experience went after the second playthrough on Absolute Radiance and after a Steel Soul run

It is now enjoyable - and far, FAR less 'souls-like' - and I regret nothing.
