How to progress into the royal waterways without simple key

I'm on my first playthrough and I'm stuck right now..I just fought the soul master and after discovering new areas with the new abillity I couldnt really progress anymore so I googled what I'm supposed to do afterwards. On IGN it said that I'm supposed to go into the royal waterways by using a simple key on the entrance in the city of tears, but here is the problem: I already used both of they simple keys I was able to get at that stage of the game. So I don't know what I am supposed to do now. Do I have to find another simple key (if so where?), is there another way to enter the royal waterways, or ist there a way to get already used simple keys back (I used one on Jiji and the other one in the city of tears to progress). Hope someone can help me

There is another way in, and there are other simple keys, but you might not have access to them right now.
You don't have to go to Royal Waterways to progress, though. If you listen to Elderbug in Dirtmouth, he should give you a small hint on where to go next. (might not be the first dialogue you get, i'm not sure.)

Thanks. Where is the other entry to? Are you sure it's already available after just beating the Soul Master?

When i said "you might not have access to them right now", i was referring to both the keys and the other path. If you've just defeated Soul Master and not gotten any major items since, you will not be able to get to the other entrance.
And going to Royal Waterways opens very few paths, especially if you've already reached the eastern side of City of Tears.

The other path requires two major items including a non-movement one, is located at the bottom left of Kingdom's Edge, and can only be accessed from further left.

From what you're saying, though, i'd recommend trying to explore more of Crystal Peak, and maybe also Fungal Wastes.

On another note. One of the beauties about Hollow Knight is. There is no set paths which you must do in order to progress further within the game. Every single area within Hollow Knight always has more than one way to access it. If you cannot get into an area one way look around (and look at your map) and try to find another way. (although in saying this. For some of the areas additional access points can only be opened up once your in that area) but not all. A lot depends on what abilities you have or not have as to which way is the best way to progress. But for certain areas. There is items that are highly recommended before you attempt them. But in saying that even though for some areas certain abilities are recommended there is still ways around that if your careful. As to simple keys there is several places you can get keys from ( some are hidden ) which you must uncover. The game is an awesome game, at times highly frustrating, yes, for sure. But it is also highly rewarding when you complete what you first though was an impossible task.

Once you have "used" a simple key. You cannot recover that key to use again.
