20109,,20110 didn't notice that
The Ghost didn’t find his voice until after he was able to climb down from atop the Stag and turned to face him, craning his head up as he shook away the heart attack that he felt was going to overtake him at any moment, calm down as he took in a deep breath. “T-thank you..” he said in appreciation. Actual genuine appreciation due to the fact that he provided him with an even safer way to travel to locations that he needed to go to without having to almost kill himself trying to get there otherwise.
He flashed back to his first time playing the game, going through the whole playthrough without even knowing there were any stag stations, instead walking everywhere and losing countless amounts of Geo in the process. It was a better time.
“I’ve traveled to and from here countless times back when things were different,” the Stag mused out loud. Breaking the Ghost out of his thoughts as he focused in on what he was saying. “It was always filled with travelers coming and going, but now it’s very.. Quiet,” he said with a small sigh.
“But nevertheless, I thank you for sparking the flame in me once again, please go rest in the town just beyond the elevator,” he said before letting out a sigh and setting himself down on his rear, letting out a groan as he leaned forwards and fully let himself lie on the floor. “ I will be here if you need me,” he said before closing his eyes.
The Ghost looked through the bars of the fence barring him from where the Stag lay before turning around and moving over to the elevator that the Stag was talking about a few moments ago. Stepping onto it, he stumbled as it activated immediately, raising him upwards as he craned his head in the same direction. Once it fully came to a stop above the station below, he stepped off of it and looked up at the post-it board that stood collecting dust, there were countless amounts of paper notes stuck to its surface. Each one filled with writing too faded out for him to even attempt to try and read.
So he didn’t. Instead, he turned over to the lever that kept the door closed, walking up to it, and grabbing onto it with both hands, he grunted and pushed down with all the force that he could muster up. It took a few seconds of exerting force until he was finally able to push it all the way down. He took a step away from it and looked over to the door, watching and listening as the internals whirred and struggle for a moment before raising the door open. Letting the minuscule amounts of light emitted from the town's lamp posts, he stepped out from the building and out into the main area of the town. Letting an actual sigh of relief escape his lips as the warm and safe feeling of the town coasted over his shoulders.
He was so deep into it that he didn’t notice that he was being talked to until he was tapped on the shoulder, causing him to jump and snap his head over to who the culprit was. Calming down as he recognized the apologetic expression of the Elderbug standing next to him, he shook his head and tilted his head in a questioning manner. “R-repeat q-u-estion,” he said. Though he sort of had an idea what he would say, considering the fact that the player would be prompted with new dialogue once they opened the stag station.

“It was more of a greeting, I suppose,” he said with a small chuckle. Gaining a hidden grin from the Ghost as he continued “but I was surprised to see that you actually returned… er, I never really took the moment to get your name?” he said with a bit of awkwardness. “Our first encounter was so brief that I wasn’t all that together when you first arrived, so I’d like to start anew,” he said with an outstretched arm.
‘This is new..’ he thought to himself. Reaching his own hand up to grasp the Elder’s he took the initiative and gave his name out, which now that he realized it, he only gave it out to Quirrel.
“Name is G-ghost,” he whispered. The Elderbug nodded before giving out his own in return, which he already knew before even meeting him in person. But that was a given knowing that he knew a good majority of the names of the bugs in the game.
“Well met, Ghost,” he said with mirth. A stark contrast from how downcast and seemingly pessimistic he was at their first meeting, he wondered what changed. “Oh my!” he said after glancing down at him again, catching sight of something that made the Ghost tilt his head in confusion before looking on. ‘Oh.’ it mentally dawned on him that his wound was visible whenever he would gesture with his hands. “Are you alright? That looks like a nasty wound,” he empathetically said.
The ghost held up both hands and shook his head. “I- fine, was able to heal the wound with lifeblood… didn’t h-have an-ything to clean myself with..” he admitted. Intentionally leaving out the part where he technically died, that was something that he would keep to himself.
Elderbug nodded. “Well, if you say you’re alright, I won’t press.” Though his gaze lingered on the Ghost for a few moments before he noticed the door to the stag station was open for what seemed like the first time in ages. His eyes widened, “the stag station has opened? I thought I’d never see such a thing!” he said with surprise. “This building has lain dormant even before my time.”
“I was a-able to open a-nother st-ation in Greenpath” he said with some struggle. Grimacing as his voice stuttered whenever he tried to pronounce some words and didn’t when he said others.
“You have surprised me, Ghost,” the Elderbug said with surprise. He never expected someone of the Ghost’s stature to even brave the depths of Hallownest, better yet, even survive the trek to and from! It was a surprising thing when he noticed the small figure of them coming from the stag station. “Though I see that you haven’t been able to find any of the villagers?”

Ghost shook his head, but held his hand up before the elder could hang his head. “I know where the sh-shopkeeper is..” he admitted. “J-just was sidetracked... Was planning on going to get him after opening the stag st-station.”
“Ah, I understand,” he said with a nod before perking his head up. “Oh yes, before I forget. A couple has recently taken up residence in the house beside the station, funnily enough,” he said with another chuckle. “It seems that they’re setting up a map shop of sorts, something that might interest an explorer like yourself, Ghost.”
The Ghost turned and looked over to the familiar sight of Cornifer and Iselda’s map shop.
“Though I’ll leave you to your own devices now, Ghost,” the Elderbug said after giving him a small wave and turning to walk back toward where he always stood in the game. The Ghost watched him for a few moments before turning over to the map shop and moving in that direction. Looking up at the giant pair of circle glasses that were over the shop's door, he stopped at the entrance and deliberated. He didn’t really know how exactly he was going to draw his own map, so what’d be the point of buying the quill? He also didn’t really know how to read a map, well, without the wayward compass charm. Maybe it worked the same way. He’d just have to buy a map alongside it to see if it did.
He then shook his head and took a step into the shop, feeling a sense of familiarity as he stopped in the middle of it and looked over to the counter, the familiar sight of the tall mosquito staring down at him with slight surprise, before switching back to her bored expression made him tap both of his fingertips together. He looked over the shelves that were filled with a myriad of different kinds of maps and books that had maps in them, alongside what seemed to be full-fledged maps of unrecognizable areas posted along the walls. The house seemed a lot smaller from the outside but was truly a lot bigger once you stepped inside and actually took a look around at what was in it.
“Come to by a map have you?” Iselda’s monotone voice called out to him. Causing him to jump and turn back over to Iselda who was looking down at him expectantly, he took a moment before nodding up at her. “Y-yes,” he confirmed. He desperately needed a map to get around this place, for his own knowledge of the game was getting skewed in every sense with every wrong turn and situation he was thrust into.
She looked at him strangely for a moment, he didn’t know why, simply standing there awkwardly as she looked him up and down for a few moments before relenting. “Hm, very well then, let’s see what’s here for me to sell,” she muttered the last bit to herself as she turned and looked at the shelves behind the counter. He really couldn’t see as he had to stand on the tips of his toes in order for him to actually be able to look over the counter, though he didn’t outwardly complain and instead patiently waited for her to pick out the items that he would choose from.
Then he also had to count out his geo…
‘This is going to be a long day… ‘ he groaned to himself.
