Coliseum of fools is actually impossible on 5 lives.
If you have more than 5 lives I'm sure you can tank it, but those bees which file the golden bullets... aghhhhh!

1 bee is trivial, 2 are impossible. IMPOSSIBLE.

I'll get it eventually. I just wish I was good enough to it in 10 goes on 5 lives instead of 100 goes.

I'm still trying to decode what you just said. I honestly couldn't understand a thing, i didn't even know there were bee's in collo? And by lives you mean masks? I think you might be talking about something else entirely... If you need help with colosseum of fools try watching a speedrun, or relyea's tutorial, his guide actually helped me a lot cause my biggest flaw is doing things really fast and aggressive, but watching his video helped me take things slower.

And i'm sure you were being sarcastic in the title but people can do the trial of the fool with 1 mask, people who speedrun it do it all the time and the only reason they have 2 lifeblood masks is to tank the boss at the end to not lose time.

Its hard at first but after you beat it a few times it becomes a mild challenge, keep at it and you will emerge victorious.

I assume they meant it's impossible when on 5hp and the bees might be Primal Aspids

Colo isn't so hard, once you get comfortable with movement in this game.

If you want to do Colo Trials with 5 masks of health and you're having trouble, just keep building on your skill with movement/platforming. (This can be by playing through the game a couple of times to build up your intuitive understanding of how movement works in the game in general, or it can do be by grinding one spot to build up the specific skills for that spot.)

I can't remember if you were the person who didn't want to use spells and nail arts with Strength and Shaman Stone charms, but if not, then remember those can help a lot to clear out flying enemies.

If that's you or you also want to learn strategies for playing with low equipment, then also: if you need more room to dodge Primal Aspid spits, remember you can always fall toward a spiked floor and bounce off it with your nail repeatedly as needed. And sometimes you can just hit flying enemies from above (if they're flying low enough), or knock lighter enemies off platforms and into the spikes for a quick environmental kill.

There are guides of how to beat the coliseum of fools. The coliseum of fools are 3 great challenges that trains you to use spells, nail arts, and fighting without the floor.
If you successfully complete those challenges, your hollow knight skill ascends.

The skill which speedrunners develop and show in this game never ceases to amaze me. I know that with practice (and patience!) everyone's skills grow... but damn, even when I'm trying to do what in comparison is a baby challenge it can feel so hard.

My skills are definitely improving, which is really why I actually love it. Before I tried to do them with a lowish number of masks (although not really that low) I feel like my skill was slowly increasing, but now the game is saying 'you can do a lot better. Improve'.

I think I similarly want to try and do everything fast and aggressive because I feel like more of a badass, but if this playstyle is preventing me from completing the coliseum trials then I must adapt. Thanks for the relyea recommendation, this looks to be an excellent resource.

Think about it this way, they put thousands and thousands of hours in playing this game, so it's only natural that they can do conquer seemingly impossible challenges. At one point they were really bad at the game but they played it so much they became gods. Maybe i'm praising them too much, they just have a lot of time on their hands :zote:
Either way i'll always respect speedrunners in any game (as long as they're not cheaters) and i like the hollow knight community, it's not really that toxic.

Yeah i think watching speedrunners made me try to play like them but then i watch people like relyea and crankytemplar make really hard challenges look easy and i realize all i have to do is take things slow.
