Is anyone even... Hyped... for Silksong?
I've had it on my wishlist for 4 and a half years
There is no hype, no want for Silksong I feel anymore
Team Cherry could come out tomorrow and say "Hello all, we are cancelling Silksong" and I could not care less.
They could release it tomorrow aswell, I wouldn't care, I wouldn't even run to play it.
Am I the only one?

I went hollow long ago.

I wouldn’t say that I feel excitement over the game right this very moment, just because I’ve been looking forward to it since the day it was first revealed.

But if they put out a trailer tomorrow that had a release date, then yeah, I absolutely would be hyped for it, and would buy and play it day one.

The thing about hype is that it’s a feeling that comes and goes. You don’t just constantly feel hyped about something all the time.
Tomorrow For Shaw!

They've burnt out a lot of fans from going completely radio silent for long periods of time, so, no much surprise there, but the 74k+ comments on that one thread, though, shows that there are still people who are looking forward to it.

Personally, I've recently finished the game, and like any other Souls game, you end up with the feeling that: "So...There wasn't a whole lot to it, was there?"
A lot of vague messaging, a lot of half-spoken lines and intentionally ambiguous narratives ends up with an extremely hollow and empty storyline.

When I now look back at Hollow Knight, I don't think of an interesting world, with interesting characters, but stuff being placed at places, intentionally obtuse narratives, and a metroidvania where it is easy to get lost and difficult to figure out where to go to next.
So, no, I am not looking forward to Silksong.

There is no need to call the story bad if you dont like souls storytelling.

Well, the point of soulslike storytelling is that you have to keep a really sharp eye to understand story, if you take everything at face value and treat it as all there is to it, this is what you'll end up with. Hollow Knight is an amazing game, the story is also very detailed and wonderful, but you need to really dig into every character, every single line written in the entire game, and more.

That's what I was thinking
Of course, noone is currently celebrating cus Silksong is coming out soon
But how many people would actually go nuts over the trailer and go insane after they know the release date? Cus its definitively not me.
Maybe its just that I have no reason to even play the game anymore, so I haven't played it for so long? Considering I had done everything there is to do

And i like it. It adds mystery, and is more immersive. Hard to decipher isnt a flaw.

It adds character to the npcs, it shows they're vary of who they talk to and what they say, they don't just tell you all the lore they can cus the writers wanted to add lore to their game somehow. I think its a great way of story writing, and is part of why I love soulslikes so much.

Same. And id add it also makes the story feel earned, and also better for telling a very large narrative.

i think there's a difference between a story being told subtly and a story being shallow. i went into the game spoiler-free and was intrigued the whole time, obsessively hunting for every bit of dialogue i could get. "this crucial emptiness i do not share" was echoing through my mind for days, then i got to the Abyss and it began to dawn on me what this meant. the disturbing implications of the Infection being perceived as a bright, brilliant light were not lost on me, either, so discovering the Radiance was a massive eureka moment! that being said, i understand that subtle storytelling isn't for everyone.

naturally, i'm looking forward to Silksong.

Exactly. The game has an amazing story. Said storytelling is not for everyone, just like i dont really like stories where the story is what you do.

As for my actual hype, im not hyped, i never was hyped. But if silksong released id immediately buy it and play it. I dont wait for silksong. I play other games, or do more hollow knight stuff. There are so many hypothetical challenges none of us did everything.
Most people got tired since they were very hyped. Silksong could take 10 more years and i wouldnt really complain. Games take time, and team cherry hasnt really showed us theyre not to trust, so silksong would be far better. As for the radio silence, i already explained in other posts.
Its normal for people to get overhyped then lose interest from the wait. I would have done so too if i was playing hollow knight by the time silksong announced. It happened to me for other stuff, i was originally very hyped for, example, digital circus. And now i havent even watched any other episode.
However, i believe silksong will be able this part of the community's hype and respect back.

i agree. fixating on one game that's still in development just creates frustration and heaps pressure on the developers; it's not productive. i'm currently anticipating the release of three games (Deltarune Ch. 3 & 4, Rain World: The Watcher, Silksong), but my attitude is that they'll be out when they're out. plenty of other things to enjoy in the meantime!
