Anyone else think the end of the Path of Pain is nonsense?
I'm trying to get through the PoP right now. It's frustrating, I wish sometimes I could just turn the game off for a hour on the last section and come back without any lost progress, because I don't like leaving games on when I'm not playing them. But whatever, I can deal with that.
THE KINGSMOULDS THOUGH. I need to scream about these mofos.
I'm sorry, after potentially hours of doing these sections, opening exactly one shortcut that may cut out a solid chunk of the path but not any of the truly difficult parts, getting to the end with almost inevitably having a full platforming charm setup and having two really tough enemies drop in on you and erase all of your progress outside of said shortcut because they probably will kill you... I'm sorry, that's starting to really toe the line of bullcrap for me.
I kinda honestly like the Path of Pain! But to have to split your charms between things to make the platforming more bearable (hiveblood, grubsong, which take half your notches) and something you hope will make the fight doable (which isn't even guaranteed because you don't fight very many of them so it's hard to know a good counter strat for two coming at you on either side...) Like, we have enough dedicated chunks for the game for the combat, but very little for the platforming, so it just ends up feeling unnecessary. There aren't even any platforms in the area you fight them, it's just a flat plane. At least try to tie it back to all the platforming you've been tested on to that point.

I just needed to scream about that. Because this most recent playthrough I died just as I killed the one Kingsmould outside the White Palace, so I know there is a fair chance of me failing the fight at the end a second time and I don't want to have to do all this platforming a third time... And looking up strats for them probably won't help on my current attempt, given I'm finally back to the final section and thus can't change my charms.

Please tell me I'm not the only person who feels like this combat gang up is kinda random after everything else in the Path.

Completely agree. It was a fun challenge, except the combat right at the end that was bull for exactly all the reasons you stated.

Luckily I actually did it when I got to the end that second time. But that's solely because I spammed Desolate Dive as much as I possibly could because for some reason upon landing that spell gives frankly an insane amount of i-frames considering the other spells don't give any. The windup is still vulnerable, so it was still way more perilous than I would have liked, though.

I honestly feel like resorting to cheese like that wouldn't have been the option I chose if there were more than four Kingsmoulds in the whole area, PoP included. If there was some way to get more practice against the enemy, it might have been a cool fight to be told to now take on two at once.
It would still be out of place in a platforming challenge, but at least you would have been able to study them in an isolated environment if you find taking on two at once is too much because man I am so bad at avoiding those boomerangs.

I did Path of Pain for 4 hours, enjoying my time for the first 2 hours, then starting to really get frustrating with how long it was in the latter 2 hours.

I finally made it through all of the platforming, dropped into the room with the two Kingsmoulds, and died to them.

I never went back to the Path of Pain.

Ddark spam is how I did it
The double should be in the normal White Palace, but right after a bench and right before the end.
