Why do people hate Primal Aspids?
Primal Aspids are mildly annoying, but there are many enemies that are much worse. Great Hoppers and Crystal Hunters for example.

If you just walk left or right, depending on the situation, you can simply strafe between them. It’s a case where dodging is an over-reaction to the attack.

Primal Aspids are like if a demon stubbed its pinky toe on its bed frame while sprinting.

Nah it’s more of “had to go to therapy because I breathed the same air as a Primal Aspid”

But they are easy to dodge.

I already gave my response in the last thread, so I’m just gonna post this here instead.

Most of the challenging segments of the Colosseum of Fools don’t have Primal Aspids though.

You don't need to dodge from Crystal Hunter's shot, you can simply face and hit them, the same isn't possible with Primal Aspids

While I do find the Crystal Hunters more annoying than Primal Aspids, You only find the hunters in Crystal Peaks. But it's their 3 shot spread, that is perfect for setuping a hit, after a dodge. The angle is just perfect enough that if you dodge one of the attacks you jump or dash into another... Can you dodge them? Yes... but they will still catch you off guard at times, and you are going to get hit.

Like Fenix put it, the main thing is that I'm trying to dodge the middle spitwad so I dash, and the two spits on the side are usually perfect distanced so that I have no choice but to dash into one of them, causing damage. It punishes dashing for dodging which is garbage, as most of the game would make you believe dashing is never a bad thing. Even if you side step, the buggers live in kingdom's edge, which has cliffs and edges that you tend to fall off to avoid their attacks, thus resetting your progress. A mere inconvenience at first, but one that piles up quickly into pure annoyance and even rage. They also come at a time when you're fairly confident in the game, and they're a reality check like their Giant Hopper neighbors to see if you really got what it takes to go forward, and most people like myself weren't prepared for said skill check.
That being said, I do think the hate is overdone.

Because their damn venom shotguns are annoying and extremely hard to dodge.
I think people hate on Primal Aspids because on your first playthrough the spread is just perfect enough to be confusing or irritating, and their reputation from that grew into a huge meme that's more exaggerated than people actually feel. I think most people on later runs fare much better as they understand for them you need to wait, bait, and strike.

It doesn't punish dashing? You can dodge by doing a small jump and dashing.

That makes sense.
