Load Time Issue - Help?
I use a very, very, very low-performance system. The game runs, and while it takes a while to register input, it's manageable. But the load times. Oh god, the load times. The load screen was up for 10 minutes, and it felt like no progress was made. I'm basically confined to a small area of the map right by the entrance. Anyone experienced a similar issue? I'd prefer to not have to get a new computer, but if that's the only way...

You can try this guide for reducing HK disk space usage by 69%, see if it helps or makes things worse: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2120130739

What are the specifications of your system? 10 minutes loading times for a game which loads in a few seconds may indicate that your disk (HDD) is malfunctioning and may need replacement. But you need to make some diagnostics to make sure that is the case. I'm only taking an educated guess based on my experience right now and I may be wrong.

Verify the integrity of HK game files through Steam to make sure it's not a game issue but more a hardware/system issue.

Other games, system, programs etc. from the same disk are loading fast?

Thanks! I'll try the guide. (I'm using this laptop that may have a 64 bit core but runs a 32 bit Windows 7. Has 4 GB ram and I'm overjoyed when something runs on it at all... I don't like talking about it.) Everything else works fine. I'll try to check it via Steam, too.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing it, then wiped my save and let it load over lunchtime. Came back a hour later to see it's still loading... I hope I can find a way to fix this.

EDIT: Tried the guide, no change. I even know what it's loading - a scene with Hornet. I just never get to see it. On to ask Steam.

EDIT2: Steam says nothing's wrong. Gonna try again.

(...sad would-be-player noizes.)

Now I'm confused. If I understand this correctly... the problem is that the intro cutscenes don't load, so you can't start playing the game? Some people seem to have this problem and I don't see a clear solution. You can play with the VSync ON/OFF switch in the game options and see if it helps. It may have something to do with the codecs you have installed on your system, because the cutscenes are just normal .webp video files.

No. Game loads, I get through... (pulls up a map to ensure proper naming) King's Pass and Dirtmouth just fine. Most of Forgotten Crossroads is accessible, too. From the entrance to the Crossroads, past the Black Egg, there is a fork in the road almost at the end of the area, one goes down, one continues on to the right, which is where the first infinite loading screen is. The few rooms to the right are unaccessible. I suspect Hornet's there based on Steam's trading cards. Elsewhere in the Crossroads, there's a Stagway station with a Bench in the same room. The room above that is blocked off, too. I think it leads to the False Knight fight. I have reached Cornifer at the bottom of the Crossroads, but haven't gone much further (since I turned around to get the Compass Charm).
Seems like your game may have a problem with loading one type of enemy in the game...
Have you seen this enemy - Husk Guard?

You can check there, his locations are shown on the map and match your description.

I'm not really sure why it happens. Usually verifying the game's files through Steam (not reinstalling) fixes such weird things. You can try verifying the files until it fixes. Sometimes brute force helps.

Yep, that's the spots. Thanks!

EDIT: Have verified 15 times now and found (and tried) various launch option codes to get rid of the bug. Nothing's happening.
