Even if one input method has a large advantage over another, personal preference is usually better.
It still wasn't much better, as it made me compress my shoulders I went back to controller once just to do a few things because I didn't like my first few revisions of my KB control layout, so I started experimenting with Mouse + keyboard but I couldn't get the hang of it sense it felt pretty awkward to me.
After a while of making multiple revisions to find a control layout I could use, I settled on QWASD + 24567 numpad keys to make it easier on my shoulders and it was finally comfortable.
After that I did pretty much everything you can do in the game, some of them multiple times just for fun.
Over all, it genuinely does not matter, even latency wise, there are plenty of people who have fully completed the game on switch which is known for having bad input delay and last time I tried that version it felt like 200ms of input delay but I still beat a boss a friend was stuck on, on my first try with a controller I had never used before because I knew the game so well.
All that really matters is practice and comfort with what input method you use, if you put in enough time and effort into it you could learn to play the game with your toes on a guitar hero controller.
>And yeah, "played best with a controller" is a totally ignorable message.
Only for a sicko like you who clearly hates controllers in general or likes making things more annoying for themselves. For most people, it's reasonable advice. Also, I have a feeling that the keyboard players aren't the type who did stuff like beating the Pantheons.
I've done all bindings for all pantheons, PoP hitless, all bosses radiant in HoG on all 3 save file types and have done Radiant Markoth back to back 4 times, and radiant AR 7 times back to back without getting hit once, all on keyboard.
A friend of mine beat AR in P5 on his first ever encounter using KB.
The first ever P5 no-hit all bindings was done on KB.
Input method does not matter, only personal preference and proficiency.
I've always been wondering where the sentiment that controllers somehow improve your reaction come from. With a controller, you are pretty much always going to be moving your thumb from one button to another, which takes up valuable time. With a keyboard, you can simply rest all fingers on all relevant buttons, and respond instantly. Wouldn't this enable twitch reflexes far better?
As far as I understand, the reason games make a point of recommending controllers is because most cheap keyboards do not handle multiple buttons at once well, locking up if you try to hold down certain combinations - something that can be fatal in a game like this. If you are aware of it and can bind your keys in a way that avoids this issue, or just shell out for a higher end keyboard that doesn't have this problem to begin with, playing on a keyboard should not pose any issues.
WTF?!? That's a new one. Actually never heard that argument before. It's utterly wrong of course, but new to me none the less. How does using keyboard degrade your reflexes? If anything it helps you, because you can have all your fingers on a button ready to press without any extra movement that would be necessary on a controller.
And before you go into any further assumption about peoples skills... Yes I have finished all pantheons. Also you might want to know that some of the fastest speedruns are done on keyboard.
This is also like the third or fifth time they assumed/said/implied that i wasn't very skilled at Hollow Knight, even tough i'm more skilled than they are and i corrected them every time.
i have to admit i immediately hated the preset control scheme, but after switching things to my liking, i couldn't imagine why i'd want a controller (a little later i actually tried controller, but it wasn't working for me. but that might just be cause i was used to keyboard already)
i haven't noticed any problems from using keyboard at all. feels quick and responsive. i can always go the direction i need, when i need to, and because my mouse just so happened to have two extra buttons, (that i never thought i'd need) there was plenty of space for all the controls.
i really don't know what this Hotel Security person has against keyboard, but i think its at least just as good as controller.
