Where does the gods and knighmares DLC start?
How do I start it? A little bit ago I got the DLC and I don't know where all the new stuff is or how to get to it. it also seems to have taken away my ability to do steel soul runs.

I think you mean the Godmaster DLC. Even though I cannot show you the exact location without a map, I still think, this might help you:
- First of all, you have to make sure that you own a "simple key". The DLC comes with a new one. Just go to the "Collusseum of Fools" and there to the area east of the arena. There is now a breakable wall that leads to a new area with a key.
- Then go to the sewers, the western parts of the sewers to be exact. Somewhere there is now a breakable wall (western wall / ceiling), that leads sooner or later to an area called junkyard. There you will find a place to use the key and to enter the new area of the DLC. But make sure that you already own the "dreamnail" or you want be able to enter the place.

This is the DLC that I'm talking about. The godmaster update is free and I know how to get to.

"Gods & Nightmares" is a soundtrack. "Godmaster" is the name of the newest DLC and it doesn't cost anything. It's part of the normal game so if you have Hollow Knight installed, you have the Godmaster DLC.

Gods & Nightmares isn't a DLC. It's a soundtrack. You won't be able to "start" it ingame. ;)
Maybe you should search in the game files (can be acessed via steam using the game properties options). These things are very often stored somewhere in a subfolder called "Resources".

Oh my god this has caused me so much confusion, alright then were to I start that DLC patch? like how do I get to the boss that is showcases on the soundtrack dlc.....

It's in Howling Cliff near the entrance to Greenpath/an Essence Tree. There's a breakable wall you have to break iirc where you'll find a huge bug to dreamnail.
