Hmmm, I do not own the switch version, but as a guy who played the Xbox version first I hope that I can help a little bit. It really is about timing your downwards nail swing correctly and judging the distance of the swing, I'd suggest getting a good amount of soul (to heal if you mess up a couple of times), finding some spikes, and just practicing getting the length of the nail swing down, because once you have the swing's distance memorized, it will be easier to have a better timing with the bounce. Then if you need to, say, move left or right while doing it, practice either holding diagonally down left/right on the stick, or holding both the left/right and down d-pad button things the switch has while swinging. I hope this helps you out! but if you need any more help just come back here and either me or someone else will probably help you out more.

Try to avoid the spikes or talk to an expert

Thank you for your reply, I’ll try to do it.. it’s just seem complicated to use all these at once.
Is it jump and fight and then right/left?

You jump into the spikes, and when you are at nail lenght distance, you press both "down" and "atrack" and you should hit the spikes and bounce. Then, once you manage to bounce in place consistenly, practice moving diagonaly (down and side) into the direction you want to go. It's all about timing.
By the way, have you met the place with fungi already? Because I know in early game you have some places with spikes you could access by pogoing the spikes, but if you don't manage the timing yet, you can go to this other place I mention for practice, because you'll find there something with a similar mechanic than spikes but that won't hurt your butt if you miss.
You can (and will) allways backtrack to any spike you want later once you can pogo properly.

By the way, you don't bounce into spikes, the mechanich that allows you to pogo on spikes is "knockback" and (I think) that's the reason if you have the charm "Steady Body" you won't be able to pogo as it removes this mechanich.
So first of all, chek you don't have it eqquiped. I didn't check it in-game, but it's a reason I can think of you might be having issues to pogo.

Steady Body doesn't affect pogo, and doesn't affect up slashes either.

So it's not the charm... I didn't try in game, I mentioned it because I thought it might be interfering with the pogo. Otherwise, it's just downslash, what could stop someone from doing it?

Missed timing? Misunderstanding? Lack of knowledge on timing? Joycon drift? Terrible keyboard ghosting (although not on Switch)?
