Recommended keyboard + mouse settings?
Would prefer to have the controls set alike to that from Ori and the Blind Forest or similar; controls felt so natural, I clicked with them right away. I have already assigned these:
  • Movement to WASD
  • Attack to LMB
  • Jump to Space Bar
  • Map remains at TAB
  • Heal / Focus to E
Any suggestions on building upon that? If all goes well perhaps this could be made a reference to other newbies.

DISCLAIMER: As someone who rigorously uses Arrow Keys + ZXC for 2D platformers, I can't guarantee the usefulness or accuracy of the following advice.

There are 2 commands you'll be using often: Soul (spells and healing) and Dash.
With your current setup, you could set Dash to RMB and Soul to Shift.
Other commands you'll need are Charge Dash and Dream Nail. You don't need to hold any directional key while charging these, so I guess you can assign them to Q and E.

I use this: move - TFGH; Jump - space; focus - j; attack - k; dash - l; dream nail - n; super dash - m. It's very convinient if you get used to it. All the keys are at hand.

My controls are:

Left mouse: Nail
Right mouse: Dash
Movement: WASD
Focus(heal): C
Quickcast: E
Dreamnail: Q
Jump: Space
Shift: Crystal dash
Map: TAB
Inventory: B

So far, the most comfortable way of playing, for me at least. :)

Well I haven't really progressed at all (courtesy of the outside life and my Rocket League addiction), but I have assigned Focus/Heal to E.
movement: W,S,A,D

attack: E

heal/spells: R

map: M

inventory: I

jump: space

mothwing/shadecloak: Q

EDIT: this makes movement while continus down striking on stuff like spikes REALLY hard (and its only moving while down striking) also this is what i use in almost all 2D games aswell as some 3D games

Movement- Arrow Keys
Jump- Z
Attack- X
Dream Nail- A
Magics- S
Crystal Dash- D
Normal Dash- C
Inventory- I
Quick Map- Tab

This setup has minimal conflict between mechanis, and it's easy on the fingers.
CobCannon64 Apr 22, 2018 @ 4:56pm
My setup:
WASD-move
Space-jump
Q-focus
E-quick cast(I don't use it often though)
LMB-attack
RMB-dream nail
F-crystal dash
Tab-map
R-inventory
Shift-dash

I played Dead Cells before this game so I used this setup to not feel alienated between the two games' controll schemes.(wanted to explain)

for keyboard only no mouse games like this, Arrow keys are by far the best way for movement.

Arrow keys - movement
Spacebar - jump
Z - cast
x - attack
c - dash
s - super dash
d - dream nail
f - quick cast

ZXC spacebard movement keys is by far the best way to do keyboard (and as we all know keyboard is best for 2d platformers if done like this)
