Am I the only one who doesn't find the colosseum even remotely fun?
No matter what combo of charms I use, it's just unfair. I want to beat it, but i'm starting to get really sick of trying over and over and over.

Its my favorite part of the game, and easier than 2 of the bosses.

The hiveblood charm is OP for the colosseum and basically makes you unkillable in that area. Personally, I don't find it hard at all. However, I feel like the trial of fools overstays its welcome by a long shot.

Instead of sending wave after wave of individually easy waves and making it "hard" by stitching it all together, they could have traded some waves for a better God tamer boss.

Imo, Hiveblood is pretty damn worthless... It can only heal a single mask of health, and even that takes like 10 seconds.
yeah hive blood is really bad for anything but jumping puzzles.

No, you absolutely don't. That advice wasted my time back in the day. Use Mark of Pride for range & simply pogo them. Thorns will do the job if you get hit. Offensive carms were the reason I kept failing. Nailmaster's, Fragile Strength, Quick Slash, all of these - although nice - I simply could not afford to waste notches on.

Are you sure we are talking about the same game? Have you ever heard about something called Primal Aspid?

I know that I'll probably get a lot of weird looks for this, but as this thread is about helping with the Trial of the Fool, I want to let the rest of the world see my personal charm combination for beating this trial. This setup was used during the lifeblood update just to verify a couple of my charms. The charms I decided to use were; grubsong (1), sprintmaster(1), long nail(2), weaversong(2), (remember that weaversong got a big buff in this update) level 4 grimchild(2), and dreamshield(3). Weaversong, grimchild and dreamshield are there so I can focus more on dodging attacks but still doing damage,(this was especailly usefull during the spiked floor wall jump section that we all hate) grubsong and sprintmaster synergize with weaversong and are usefull in thier own right, and I really wanted the extra nail range for when I really wanted an enemy eg; primal aspids, dead quickly. Try these out for yourself and see if they work for you and edit to your specific taste.

No, it's not weird at all. Just another very useful charm setup. Minion Army I would call it. Now Wawersong + Grubsong are the great source of free soul and Grimmchild and Dreamshield speak for themselfs. Also points for Sprintmaster, one of my favourites and boosts little spiders too. I only don't get Long Nail, for me it's useless without Mark of Pride but that's just my opinion.

I get where you're coming from. For a long time it was either MoP or no extra nail range for me. However my reasoning for Long Nail of all charms goes as such; Stalwart Shell is pretty damn good, but not my type, Soul Catcher is a no as I already have a lot of ways to get soul, Dash Master could be probably a great alternative for maximum speed, Fragile/Unbreakable heart could also give a bit more survivablility, Fragile/Unbreakable Greed is obvious why not, I didn't use spells often enough to say yes to Spell Twister, who actually uses Heavy Blow, I just like having that little bit to just kill that flying enemy from a bit further away+easier pogoing, how often is Fury of the Fallen actually going to be usefull in a place like that, I just don't like Baldur Shell, Flukenest now costs 3 so nope, I'd rather not have my soul be passivly taken by Glowing Womb, Lifeblood Heart is also not great in the colloseum, I like Sharp Shadow so maybe that, I don't see many times thinking that being able to move while healing being very helpful although Shape of Unn is a great charm, I don't swing often so Steady Body won't be that useful to me, why do you have Wayward Compass or Gathering Swarm, I don't think Dreamweilder is that good(but please educat me if I'm wrong) but the rest of the 1 cost charms are good to use. (I'd probably use Defender's Crest and Spore Shroom) What I'm trying to say is that while Long Nail is an odd choice, I flet like it would give me the biggest fundemental advantage with the rest of the charms in mind. Besides, that charm was more like a small bonus to me than a big part of my setup.

I'd say nailmasters glory is essential to one shot death obbles, primal aspids, and the charging flies. I then focused on the nail. Quick slash, mark of pride, stalwart shell, and soul catcher.

I learned spawn locations and timing. Forced myself to get each wave down. The air segment was the worst for me, once I got through it, I beat it.

Stalwart shell is to give you a spam window to hammer the attack button after you get hit.

All told, it took me many hours, but I was so pumped when I cleared it.

you're not alone pal, I've been stuck on the third trial for like, almost a year now:steamsad:

Dream Wielder in Colosseum of Fools lesson:
Whenever there is a Shielded Fool or Garpede walking vertically you can easily heal yourself to the max and fill all 198 points of soul. And there are few waves where they appear. Shielded Fool is ridiculously effortless to hit with Dream Nail and is best served as last enemy of a particular wawe. Dream Wielder allows you to steal soul from Garpedes up to 2 hits per Garpede if timed correctly. Also you can heal once (or maybe even twice with Quickfocus) per opening in their wave.
Quick note:
If Heavy Blow was lowered to one notch than I would probably start using since it's quite fun in nonserious gameplay. Even if we all anonymously and unambiguously agree that it's a joke.

OMG, those little b*. It feels so satisfying when you kill them instantly with great slash when the cage opens, but if you missed the chance, oh hell.

There are segments in the Colosseum I hate, but I do have fun with it.

For my part, for a while I had trouble with it. After a lot of trial and error, it's mostly a cake walk (and usually my losses are my own fault).
