Hollow, linux, saves [SOLVED]
Well, probably nobody has this problem, but in case someone knows...
Question is there a fix to make it work native?
I have a problem,I don't know why, yesterday, when I reinstalled Hollow knight i got it to work flawlessly out of the box on Mx Linux (and the save, about the colisseum part was there) today the game doesn't work. It shows the arrow icon for a brief time and nothing more. So I configured to force launch with proton and wined3d command. It works! but the save is on the first map (filthy-mouth? dunno in spanish is "boca-sucia").

~/.config/unity3d/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight/saves/
Try looking around in this file path maybe, i don't exactly understand your problem, the most i understood was it's something about your save files not being up-to-date, and having your save put you back in dirtmouth.

Try the suggestion from the FAQ:
Right-click Hollow Knight in your Steam library, then click Properties, General, and enter "-force-opengl" into the Launch Options field.

you managed to give the solution for another problem I had with Sunblaze, it's such a shame I just formatted and lost all saves in my old OS but now I know for the future. Thank you so much. Probably I'm going to experiment a little to see what is file for the old and the newer save.

I just beat the second phase of the colisseum thank to you man! thanks, thanks thanks! (sure is kinda low the performance with that launch option compared with proton wined3d, but I have my saves! :burozombie:

If you know how to find the save location when under Proton you can copy-paste the saves there. Coco has already posted the native Linux save location.

So if you're using Proton does that mean it takes the WIndows directory structure to a certain degree? If so this is the save location on Windows:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight\
(expanded: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight)

File path for the game with proton:
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/367520/pfx/
There should be a drive_c folder in that directory, then just go to /users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight after, and you should see the proton game files. Full file path is ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/367520/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Team Cherry/Hollow Knight for convenience.
Hollow Knight should only be there if you ran it through proton as far as i know, not really sure how a proton file path would work with a game that has a native linux version, as i've never tried it. Still worth a shot though, OP said they used proton to launch the game (which is actually really common, as a lot of people apparently have issues with the native version), so the file path i sent should probably work.

Thanks again guys! You're a pair of angels :D Now i'm playing it using proton with my saves on a SSD and is a dream the performance. I don't know if it's something on Mx Linux, but the location for the saves (proton) was on
/home/USER/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/367520/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/
I let the direction in case another poor soul couln't find it, it is good to know there is a couple of folder with random numbers, saves goes on different number folders it seems, 'cause Team Cherry was all alone.
Now is time for me to finish this once and for all
