And if so what layout do you use?
I personally use keyboard since I really suck with a controller in any game I play. I use WASD for movement and IJKL for attacks. I for the dreamnail, J for nail, K for focus/spells and L for crystal dash.
For jumping and dashing I use the standards for these which are space for jumping and shift for dashing.

I'm using a Wired XBox 360 Controller.
Buttons all standard, except I switched Focus/Cast and Quick Cast buttons. (RB for Focus/Cast and B for Quick Cast)

I have used a few different controllers over time, always with 100% default settings. Currently using an 8BitDo Pro-2 (Xbox version).

I use the arrow keys for movement, C=jump, X=attack, Z=focus, Space=Dash (and V=superdash, D=dreamnail, but those are not as important).

I'm ambidextrous as far as movement is concerned; for games that use a mouse, I'll use my left hand to move, for keyboard-only games I'm fine with using my right hand.

I use a Switch Pro Controller (used to use a DS3, but I lost the cord) with mostly default controls, but I think I swapped the shoulder buttons around when I changed controllers (Dash on ZR, C Dash on R, map on L, Quick Cast on ZL).

I put my keyboard on an angle to account for my right hand sitting lower then my left but you could ofcourse just move the movement keys to p l : " or something like that.
