is it strange most of the bugs wear masks?

I think it's cause they don't have a face, inside of the mask is an empty shell. Story spoilers: like in the true ending cutscene, you see the knight's mask broken in half, the vessels were supposed to be a body to hold the radiance/infection inside, but i guess most of them were just empty, well not empty but filled with the void, and maybe thk wasn't one of them. i'm not much of a lore guy, i find it boring to make theories about the story and from the team cherry interviews i've seen, i came to the conclusion that they don't even know exactly what the story was meant to be.

Some bugs wear masks, some don't. I actually don't even think it is accurate to say most wear masks.

From talking to the mask maker, masks seem to help bugs focus on who they are and separate themselves from common bugs. Especially for those that naturally are more 'wild'.

Only the vessels are 'empty' as Coco put it, and I don't think it's a mask, but their shell, hollowed out and replaced by the void.

It's not clear if Elderbug wears one. Somehow I feel like he doesn't, but maybe? Remember not all bugs wear masks. For example, I highly doubt that Cornifer or Iselda wear them. They don't even seem to be from Hallownest, where masks were fashionable and/or necessary to wear.
