Notches for Charms

How do you increase ntches to equip more charms? First time playing and cant seem to find an answer anywhere. Only have three so far, not sure if I just need to beat bosses or if its something I need to search for in the maps, or an item I need to buy to increase it. let me know, thanks!

There are 11 total charm notches, 3 of which you start with.
4 of them must be bought from a Vendor, and the rest have to be earned/found.

You can also Overcharm if you have at least 1 empty notch. This allows you to equip a charm passed the limit, but as a drawback you will take double damage.

Ok well I just beat the second boss. I am not sure where to find notches if there are any in the grassland place. I still only have 3 after beating the boss so Im not sure right now where to get more. Missing a charm apparently but Im more concerned where to get notches since I cant even equip all of the charms I have (which is 3).

How are you missing one? You start with 3, and you have to at least gotten dash before you can even find another notch. Though, technically there is a way to get the 4th and 5th notches without dash, but that requires doing certain 'skips'.

How do you know that you're missing a charm? What charms do you even have?
The earliest charm you can get is Fury of the Fallen by crossing the spikes in the tutorial area(you can bounce acrossed spikes by downslashing with your Nail), but most people don't find it right away on their first playthrough.

Some are obtained from doing optional tasks. Killing certain bosses. And once you get the mantis claw you can buy a couple notches.

I'm pretty sure you're not missing any. I'm at 12 hours and only have 4 notches. I found #4 somewhere after boss 2. Still looking for boss 3. (I think I've found boss 3, but my platforming isn't good enough to meet him).

You are not allowed to equip all charms, otherwise you'll be too powerful.

Third Boss is Mantis Lords . You dont have to do it when you found them since you fight with them if you chalange them. I recommend doing it when you found them because
1.You get the best charm in the game
2. You get tons of geo.
Or you can fight them after going to City Of Tears and find Nailsmith and upgrading your nail

I just got mantis claw. I found one notch since, been wondering around a lot. But I was able to find one at least so hurray!

Thats about where I am, thanks for letting me know! Theres a knight wondering around looking for an arena to fight me. No idea where that is but after being stuck for three hours in one spot, its nice to wonder around freely.

I dont know, your right. I thought I was missing one because there was a gap between notches. Ill just enjoy the game and once I get further in the game I might be able to get a better handle on what I should have by that point.

I'm surprised I've not found it, I've been wandering around for 7 hours. But I guess I'll have to. Im too incompetent to the switch that opens the gate to the 3rd boss.

Ace, FYI, I gave up on reaching the 3rd boss and decided to look for the city instead. Re-exploring old areas looking for the entrance, I found a vendor selling notches. I got two more for a total of 6.
