Anybody know where the art files are?

I've seen videos of people playing around with the game's sprites, and I'm wondering, how did they get them? I looked through the game files but i couldn't find them

They are bundled inside the game files. You can use for example AssetStudio to extract files from all Unity games.

Thanks for the help, sadly though I couldn't open / preview any files, it gave me an error every time I tried to do that

Hm. Interesting! What error it was?
Have you tried File > Load Folder and point into the Hollow Knight folder? Should then create a list of all files automatically.
