Modding Issues
I'm using the Mod Manager v8.5.2, by Gradow. I got it off https://www.nexusmods.com/hollowknight/mods/9?tab=posts.

The issue is not with installing the mod launcher or mods, I had a fine time with it at first. But about a week ago, one of the mods screwed up my game to the point where no matter how many mods I disabled, the menu would keep loading an option when selected. Save files would also not load.

So I reinstalled the game. Everything was working fine, so I went to the modinstaller set-up so I could re-download/enable the mods. But now mods are not enabling/working when I load up the game.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it because it makes me go to the modinstaller.setup everytime I want to open the mod installer, thus downloading the same thing again and again? Is it because I accidentally changed something in the files? Someone please help.

Check your installation path, it should be (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed)
If not then change the default path by clicking the button.
Also modinstaller.setup isn't the right one, that's how you install the modinstaller application.
There is an exe file somewhere that is the modinstaller app, open that up and then download whatever mods you want.
Another thing to try is going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed and deleting the mods folder, then go back to the modinstaller and redownload the mods.
Or you have the mods disabled from the in game menu.

It didn't seem to work. I changed the default path to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed, but it kept telling me that it was an invalid shortcut.
I also tried deleting the Mods folder and re-downloading the mods.
Lastly, I really can't disable mods from the Game Menu. They just don't pop up. I can't enable or disable Custom Knight, QoL, nothing. I even checked the options for the "Mod" selection. There was none.

Also, I'd appreciate it if you could clarify where the .exe file for the Modinstaller App is.

Mine is on my desktop but try checking downloads if you don't see it.
And since C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed didn't work, maybe try C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight\hollow_knight_Data\Managed\Mods I think that one might work, now that i think about it the first one i sent doesn't seem like it would be the one.
And if that doesn't work or you don't feel like doing all of it try to delete absolutely everything related to mods, the modinstaller, all the mods you have downloaded, maybe even reinstall hollow knight once again, and it should work fine. I don't see any reason it would have a problem in the first place, when you install the modinstaller it automatically finds the file path that the mods are supposed to be in and when you download mods it will install the other mods it needs to support that mod, i'm convinced the issue is the file path, cause i can't see any other reason the mods wouldn't load.
Finally i have 2 questions, does it show your mod list in the top left corner in game? and have you ever had trouble with mods before? or is this your first time using them.

I just reread the original post and realized you already answered that, if you know which mod you installed that messed up your game that could possibly help.

I think it was something to do with the Custom Night mod when I was getting some new skins on. I also know that QoL was bugging out my game a few days prior. In the mean time, I'll try these tactics.

Also, if I delete the Hollow Knight folder entirely, will that end up deleting any save data for the game?
If so, where do I find the save files just to be safe?

If you don't mind can you send a screenshot of your mods folder? It should look like this https://imgur.com/NwlYcAX And check the disabled folder for duplicate mods and if there are some delete them, for example if you have a QoL.dll and there is another one in the disabled delete the one in the disabled, i remember that causing me some issues.

(had to edit it to as there was a double quote in it)

Depends which one you delete, there's one with the game files and one with the important files, the game folder has all the game files like the application and abunch of other stuff you need to play hollow knight, if you delete that one you'll just have to reinstall the game from steam again, nothing important is there. The file path for it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight
And for the one with your saves files in it, that would be in C:\Users\%UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Team Cherry\Hollow Knight so i'd suggest creating a backup of either all your save files (the user#.dat files) or just copying the whole hollow knight folder somewhere else.
