new to hollow knight, how do i beat nosk
i'm good at surviving until it just doesn't stop using it's roof attack, i can't even hit it because it keeps jumping back up to the roof as soon as it touches the ground

I don't think Nosk does that. Even if they do, you should still be able to hit them when they fall to the ground before they jump back up.

Not really an important fight, you can come back to it later once you have more upgrades. Also if you don't mind, maybe consider removing the boss name from the title please.

You can hit nosk while it is in the roof. However, you need a more advanced ability that you get in late game.

You want to bring grubsong and deep focus. Then you stay behind the height difference(or maybe it’s called a stair) on the arena. This pretty much prevents you from dying.

If you find that you don’t have grubsong and deep focus charm. Then you should keep exploring other areas and get more abilities. People usually do deepnest with lots of upgrades.

@OP, have you tried quitting to bench and going back? If not, can you see if that helps? (Also, in case you didn't know, there is a short cut you can open to get back to Nosk's room quickly. It's right before the hall leading into the fight room. You'll want to open that up if you haven't already.)

I think it's a glitch that can happen. Might be mod-related, since exactly the same thing happened to me while I was doing a randomizer run (I think it was my first time doing area randomizer). I already went in under-equipped, thinking I could fight Nosk normally but it must have done the ceiling attack about 20 times in a row (I lost count, so that's my best estimate). I think I had sharpened nail and possibly one nail art, I can't remember, but I held on for a *very* long time and then got sick of it and quit out. When I went back in again after, the fight was normal again. Iirc the fight started normally but once the first ceiling attack happened, that was pretty much all it did.

If all else fails, you can hit it when it comes down. The ceiling slime attack is perfectly predictable; just wait Nosk out on one of the edges of the arena (you can safely heal here, too, since the acid drips never touch the wall), then when it screams you know it'll come down, dash away and slash it as it lands.

This is true, but it takes a veeery long time to kill Nosk if you can only get in one hit between ceiling attacks (or at least, it does with Sharpened nail). Maybe OP could use spells for better damage though? I think I had Howling Wraiths at least, when it happened to me, but getting the soul to keep using it was a pain. (I don't think I had the Dream Nail yet.)

I killed him early on and I had the same issue. He just spammed the roof attack so I figured I'd just get a hit or two every time he would drop (he'd drop and 1~2 seconds later go up again).
