Metroid Dread thoughts from hollow knight fans?
For those of you who played metroid dread a bunch already, what are your thoughts on it? It is very expensive for the play time so wanting to know if its worth it. Does it have good exploration, enemy variety, environments/atmosphere, difficulty, and combat?

its super short, small amount of bosses, some annoying mechanics, and its 60 dollars. I wish I could refund tbh

How short?
On HowLongToBeat it seems to sit between 6.5h – 15h depending on the playstyle.

That seems to be fine, and is pretty long for a 2D Metroid game.

playtime is about 15-20h in real time, so it's average... for an Ori game that costs 25$. This is a freaking 60$ game with copypasta minibosses and enemies all over the place.
If you ignore the price, the gameplay is very smooth and fast-paced. But unless you're a very devoted fanboi or someone with a big wallet, that 60$ feels very salty.

i played metroid dread to the very end and its simple the king of all metroidvania out there. the artstyle is impressive and this is why you pay 60 bugs. or just jailbreak switch and get it for free;)

the only thing is there is no real reason to go into ng+... yes you can do hardmode but its the exact same game just with stronger enemys. i have no plans to play it again but every metroidvania fan should play this because its the mother of all metroidvania plus it triggers super metroid vibes. overrall great game thumbs up!

I played Samus Returns by the same developer and was very surprised at how damn good it was. I'd be surprised if Dread isn't the same. Can't wait to try it. Though I sure won't be paying $60 for it. That's just silly to pay for any game.

And I have a feeling those saying it's short are not those who are exploring everything. Basically ALL Metroid clones can be beaten in 4/5 hours if you rush through them, including HK.

I'm enjoying it. The short playtime is partially due to how playtime for the game is recorder on switch. When you die and it takes you back to the last checkpoint, the time from that checkpoint to the death is not recorder as playtime. I have a friend who is close to beating it and I would say it's prob around 20hrs.

its very polished, music is good, upgrades are good, but its short if you are used to indie metroidvania games. the underwater area is unreal, i was in awe.

the sense of progression is top tier, every upgrade gives samus a visual upgrade. at the end you feel like a god with all of your abilities.

it has frame rate issues though. towards the end there are 2 mini bosses with really bad framerates in the area. my double jumps were having a hard time registering.

with 60$, I would expect The Last of Us artstyle, more than something less than Ori art.
King is a very big claim there.

Hollow Knight is the real King.

that's also a very big claim. Though Hollow Knight has Joseph Anderson and GMTK to back its quality, so a bit more confident to say so.
