(Spoiler Free, Please) Path of Pain Reward?

I am currently interested in the Path of Pain because it looked like a great challenge and I wanted to be able to say: "Yeah, I did that." But is it really worth it? Do I get a cool item or special ability? Or is it there not to help you, but it is just for the challenge, nothing else. I've only gotten the normal ending, but I am expecting to get the bad and good endings soon (hopefully). I've already gotten the Kingsoul Fragment from the White Palace, so the entrance to Path of Pain is already open (I just have to break the wall).

Only reward is a new trinket that gets added to Hunter's Journal. It does nothing but serve as proof of beating Path of Pain.

I beat Path of Pain in about 5 hours, and the only reason I understood the cutscene was that I looked it up after I was done. Still happy I got through, though

When I first saw it after beating the Path, I was speechless. "Is that...all?" :-D

Yeah, it's really mostly just a challenge for the challenge. The tiny cutscene at the end does reveal a major plot point and you do get a permanent record in the Hunter's Journal, but there's no ability or other item that affects gameplay.
