I actually find regular Soul Twisters harder to fight than Soul Master. They're supposed to train you for the boss, but the boss is better training because you're not dealing with a cramped environment and he never fires at you from below (...well maybe if you've been climbing up the wall for some reason).
For regular Soul Twisters, all I can say is watch your environment and time your attacks carefully. Use floating platforms or walls to block their shots and then dash in to make your kill as efficiently as possible. You get a big soul recharge on the way to Soul Master, so might as well send some spells back at them, too.
DON'T JUMP when Soul Master sends the glowing orbs at you from an angle. They follow you and if you do that, they'll curve back up and come at you again. If you walk to one side or dash instead, they'll just hit the ground and dissipate harmlessly.
If he's on the ground sending an orb at you, and you have the room, dash *towards* him and the orb will just fly over your head and disappear into the ground. If he's *straight* above you and sends an orb at you (rarer, and more likely to happen toward the end of the fight I think), then you have an advantage that they'll most likely head straight down into the ground even if you jump, because they don't have room to curve back up again so you can safely sidestep, jump up start hitting him and just let the thing fall (I use this all the time for regular Soul Twisters!).
Other than that, this boss is all about fake-outs. Don't let him fake you out either with the fake dives or with teleporting to the left and right and then flying at you. Pay attention to what he's doing and react accordingly.
There is also a shortcut through the left elevator shaft near Cornifer (missable).
Protip: Press Esc when at 1 mask health left and Quit to Menu. Will save you a lot of troubles 🙂
