You could always get the gog version if you are worried about it.
Hollow Knight plays very well on keyboard and I do not feel I am ever in a disadvantage because of my input choice. Just rebind the controls, for god's sake.
This isn't Fall Guys where the only disadvantage you get is in ONE race level or DS3 where you can not switch between targets while locked, I felt comfortable and ehmmm....undisadvantaged? When playing Hollow Knight with keyboard.
As to the keyboard vs controller, it's a battle that can only be won by your own personal preferences.
This game doesn't use any analog inputs, and the only downsides for keyboard I can think of are that the keys to switch between inventory screens are in a weird place and can't be rebinded (they are [ and ] keys) and if you have a keyboard that has "a number of keys pressed at the same time" issues, then you may have a problem in situations that require some keys pressed at the same time.
is Hollow Knight Gods & Nightmares drm free on steam?
