You mean the Watcher Knight?

Yeah, I'd wager he's probably the worst the bosses get, in terms of difficulty. If you're having trouble with him you can destroy one of his copies by opening the ceiling in the room before the boss fight and dropping a chandelier.

F these guys right in the ear. They are hands down the hardest (un-optional) fight in the game

I didn't try beating them until I had the strongest nail, and even then they were a pain. My advice is just try to fight them one at a time. Probably the best time to attack them is right after they roll across the room. If both are close together, spam Vengeful Spirit/Shade Soul on them, or hack away at both at once if they both wind up in a corner together, though this can be risky. Also, Vengeful Spirit/Shade Soul can hurt them even when they are spinning, I think.

Grey Prince Zote... So far, 1 hit takes 5 masks away, and I still need to beat him a few more times. :P
Watcher Knights are what put me away from starting a new save on SS mode honestly - I hated them THIS much. Now that I beat the game on SS, I can definitely say - never again.

If I had to make a top worst bosses rated by quality, this would be an easy #1.

what obout umuu, that forgetable gellyfish "boss" that only has 2 attacks and forces you to wait for 90% of the fight because it's indestructible?

nah, for me the optional boss of the forgotten crossroad (the thing that launch a lot of orange ball)

that boss is also really easy (it's the boss i've fought just before the final boss) and really boring.

I just waited to kill them until I'd done everything else. There's nothing up there but the end of the game, after all. By the time you're powered up, you can face-tank them without issues. Each enemy dies in like seven hits, often before they can even move.
huh, I like Watcher Knights! It's one of my favourite boss fights actually.
Never needed full upgrades for them too (3* nail, no shadow dash, no quickstrike, some extra masks). I enjoy the multitasking and dodginess of the encounter along with the fact it still is a medium speed fight. Heck, I'd love a dreamer version of those guys (3-4 at once, but no 2 mask damage).
If you ask me, Zote (2 damage and +) is way more annoying of a fight.
Beat the Watcher Knights on my second attempt.

Soul Catcher / Thorns of Agony / Spell Twister / Grubsong / Sharp Shadow / Defender's Crest / Dream Wielder are the charms I used. I have the Coiled Nail and Shade Soul so my equipment's probably stronger than it was when I first could've attempted to fight them. Either way, Dream Wielder, Soul Catcher, and Grubsong make building soul very easy, and then Spell Twister makes spells cheaper, so I used almost all of my focus on casting my projectile at the knights when they were on the ground. Only healed if no knights were alive (e.g. the 2 live ones had died and 2 more were spawning in). Defender's Crest could be swapped out with something else if you have the space for it.
Flukenest got nerfed in Lifeblood, but the Flukenest + Shaman Stone and spamming Vengeful Spirit still really works.
They really aren't that hard, so long as you do one thing. Play safe. The game generally rewards being slightly agressive and going on the offensive, but in this fight due to their ability to rapidly come at you from off screen you need to play very safe. Sure in a single fight it will take longer, but overall you save a lot of time by having one longer fight instead of 5 shorter failed fights.
Yea I agree they're the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss in the game. I beat mantis lord without any nail upgrade; nosk, dung beetle, soul master with +1 nail; more than half of the spirit bosses also but the Knights are so cheap- they don't have any synchronized moveset, just arbitrary movement's--it's difficult for the sake of being difficult with added RNG ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. This is the first boss where I decided man I need to upgrade, get better charms or else I'm not getting past them.
Even cuphead and Sekiro didn't give me level gating like this...

Couple thoughts/suggestions:
1) I wouldn't say their movements are that arbitrary, or at least that difficult to avoid. Their sword attacks are limited to the ground (the bosses at the end of the first three Pantheons are nightmares for that), their rolling attacks are only a problem if you're standing right next to them when they start it, and their aerial attacks are slow enough for you to dash out of the way. Although it's definitely a pain when you get trapped in a corner during their aerial attacks...

2) In addition to the tip someone had earlier about the chandelier - once you get into the phase where there's two at a time, try to do as much damage to the one that's already active while the second is getting revived. Helps to keep them from both giving you trouble for too long.

3) Descending Dark (and any charms that increase spell power, reduce spell cost, or increase soul-gathering) is your best friend. Seriously, once I realized in my second playthrough how crazy overpowered that spell is, a lot of the bosses went from "THIS IS SO ****ING HARD" to "huh, that actually wasn't too bad".

Watcher Knights aren't so bad once you know the fight. Until then though, they can definitely seem like a handful.

Here's a good thread about how to handle the fight:

I gave some detailed suggestions at this specific post if you want:
