Losing your GEO from dying twice
I'm trying really hard to like this game. Most everything about it is so well done. Animation, graphics, music, atmosphere, characters, etc. But the gameplay is so frustrating it's beginning to ruin the otherwise awesome experience.

I really do not get why you need to ♥♥♥♥ the player out of all the GEO they collected when dying twice. It's frustrating enough to die accidently while frantically trying to get your soul back. You are forcing the player to go a place that is so hard it killed them... so of course they are likely going to die again. Am I the only one who would like this changed?

Don't even know what you're asking. If a game isn't still playable after two years, was it really worth playing in the first place?

Yes, I do in fact - it's a place for people to talk about something (in this case, a game). As long as people are still playing the game, why would they stop using the forum associated with that game?

Hope so as well. But probably not the reality. This game is in a genre intended to make the player "suffering" during a certain process (I actually don't know how to translate it into English). I JUST HOPE THEY PUT A D**N DIFFICULTY SETTING THERE.

lol. And there are more places like this. The later game is something like "making it harder in any means". Like the gear saws and spikes in the white palace. Are they somewhat related to the lore? No. I don't know why a "KING" will have so many such things in his "HOME", is he a sadist/masochist?

I can't imagine being so high on myself that any mechanic I don't personally enjoy is considered bad game design that shouldn'tbe repeated. Especially years after said game was released.

Seems like bait though, so that explains a lot.

What metric would you suggest for judging if a mechanic is good for a game or not, other than how it makes you feel?

Though, if you would rather have a debatey explanation: the system is annoying, because players can collect massive amounts of geo as they progress for the game and options to spend them can be rather uncommon and exhausted. And there is no way to store them.

In Dark Souls, the game this mechanic is copied from, you spend souls every time you reach a checkpoint. So you probably won't be running around with massive amounts of them, so losing them is less annoying. There are also a lot less jumping puzzles in that game, which can make it quite difficult to reach your point of previous death. These things make the mechanic there more tolerable, even fun for some, while it's more annoying here.

Explanatory enough?

1-2K geo in the early game is quite a bit especially before acquiring the lantern. Easy to make one feel the previous several hours are wasted.
Players complaining about 1-2k geo are probably still early in the game that has not unlocked other means to gain geo, such as selling relics or farming if they know how to.
Geo lost accumulates.
Player skill differs. There do have players stuck on false knight. How arrogant you are forcing all player not complaining.
Sigh** being present and only to say git gud... only adds entropy into this universe... So for the future of our universe, please don't do that.

Its not about getting good only tho. Its accepting the game was made like that. Dying twice and not being able to recover the Geo is a punishment. Accept it, and learn to be better the next time. Geo can easily be replaced, best things are achieved exploring, not buying it. This is one of the less hardcore games ive met when it comes to dying, and still people will complain. Sigh** People will always complain about anything, if there is not reason, they will find one...

It's a game meant to be enjoyed widely, which explains the $15 price point.
Losing what you gained instills negative emotions. It was a waste. You have to grind more. You might find that punishment fun and an added value to the game, and that's your right - same as people who enjoy steelsoul mode. Others may not, and it reduces their enjoyment. Surely you agree it's fine for those people to describe what reduces their enjoyment of the game.

One of the ways the devs could please both groups is through customization.
