Should I restart my game?

Howdy, my steam peoples!
So, I previously played 31 hours of Hollow Knight, took a break, and never ended up coming back to it. I got up to the traitor lord (but had some trouble), explored most of the areas, got 2/3 of the masked thingies, but didn't end up returning to the game. At this point, feeling very nostalgic about the game and wanting to get back into it, should I restart 31 hours in, or try to watch stuff to catch back up to where I am and continue my profile? Any suggestions are great. Thanks!

I'd say start over, chances are you won't take the same exact route to get there as you did last time and watching videos is likely to reveal stuff you haven't discovered yet.

You've already invested a lot of time.
Instead of restarting I would just take a no-stress casual approach and just slowly but patiently see where I could get. At first it will seem like a totally new game and you will be really lost, but after just some wandering and messing with the UI, inventory etc. it will slowly all go back to you. The game is mostly about discovering the game world anyway, it's not like a kind of linear story game. You don't need to understand the story/lore at all. There are no objectives. So really no need for restarting unless you really want it 🙂

Start from the places you've already been to, go back to the beginning areas and see if there is something you've missed along the way. After a longer time of not playing you will have a new look at the game world and you will regain your playing skills.

Try to avoid watching videos of someone else playing, the game is best enjoyed on your own, where it's you who discovers new things. There are a lot of surprises that can be spoiled to you.

Anyway, whatever path you will choose, have a pleasant playthrough 🙂

I'd just start a new game. I had a similar experience, though I did not get as far you did. Not quite sure how, but during my first play through I got myself stuck. I just could not figure out where to go next so I got frustrated and quit playing. Saw a HK video and I was reminded of just how gorgeous the game was and decided to pick it back up again after about a year hiatus.

Flew through the early content and quickly got passed my original save. I have no clue how I got stuck as I haven't struggled at all to find new paths.

It's one of those games where, the more runs you have, the quicker it goes. It's worth starting over, playing again. It's also fun to find "skips", letting you access areas much earlier than intended for new players.

Yep, that's what I did. Had about 8 hrs and just restarted cause I was having trouble with even the most basic enemies.
Gotta redevelop the muscle memory again

I would like to replay some things again, though the prospects of going through deepnest again doesn't sound pleasant lol. Still on the fence, will keep thinking about it. Thanks for all of the feedback!
