There's a shopkeeper named Sly you can find in that will sell you the Lumafly Lantern. It costs like 1800 geo I think. He's in the forgotten crossroads.

Sly can be rescued at the bottom right of Forgotten Crossroads after defeating one optional boss. He is in one of the houses. After talking to him go back to town, he will open a shop there.

I'm always bewildered when i see people that didn't find Sly or The Last Stag before leaving the Forgotten Crossroads, I guess the game's exploration isn't as fascinatingly incredible and enticing for everyone as it was for me...

Anyway yeah, you need the Lumafly lantern from sly in order to see in dark areas (i.e.: The Crystal Peak entrance in the Forgotten Crossroads). You can purchase it from Sly for 1800 geo.

It's always strange to see how people take completely different routes and discover the areas in totally different orders. Although today I beat the Mantis Lords on radiant, I initially had a lot of trouble beating them so i left them alone for a while before finding that entrance to deepnest, I think I actually got to deepnest first through the Fog Canyon or something. Some people also go straight to the Crystal Peak for the Super Dash, or even so they can skip straight to the Resting Grounds.
Crafting one's own path through the game world was one of the main points in the metroidvania genre, and Hollow Knight nails it down very well.
Yeah, Team Cherry did an outstanding job on Hollow Knight, and they nailed the lack of a forced path pretty well. Tbh I have never played any metroidvania other than Hollow Knight, but I absolutely ADORE Hollow Knight and I'm hyped as heck for SilkSong.

is that when the area of the forgotten crossings ends because I had only noticed the tram and that I could not enter I suppose that when I realized that this tram needed something to be able to use it, I focused on that and did not realize that house , changing the subject when I get to the mantis "it is assumed" that I have to go to the blacksmith to improve the stinger but since it was my first try I got them off with the stinger from the beginning and well I miraculously achieved it and after beating them made me want to sleeping because I was stressed by his movement set.
big team cherry
In order to access all of the trams you need to go to the very top left of deepnest, the tram you were looking at would take you to the resting grounds. The Mantis Lords are actually a VERY easy boss fight (at least in comparison to all of the others), because their patterns are extremely predictable and easy to counter once you identify all of them. Also, when you say "Stinger" I think you are referring to the Nail, what your character wields is called a Nail.

Also Mozan, none of the areas quite "end" the way you think they do, Hollow Knight is vast and full of delightful exploration, don't put yourself under pressure as though you *need* to move to another area or you *need* to fight a certain boss. It's a metroidvania, relax and explore, take it in at your own pace and do what you want. The forgotten crossroads leads directly to 4 different areas I believe, though each of those paths can't be taken without different respective skills or items (Vengeful Spirit for greenpath, Isma's tear for Fog Canyon, Lumafly Lantern for Crystal peak, and there are two paths you can take to the resting grounds from the forgotten crossroads, one of which requires the tram pass, and the other of which requires skillful manuevering with certain movement items).

I did go into the Fog Canyon very early from the Fungal Wastes (I don't remember what i did and I didnt know that it was supposed to be difficult!) But i couldnt really do anything there at first except go down to the Queen Station.

Edit: I mean from the Greenpath, not the Fungal Wastes

Shuds I am aware of this, you can go straight from Forgotten Crossroads to the Fog Canyon with the superdash if you perform a very precise super dash where you would otherwise need Isma's tear. Also belangf, getting to the Fog Canyon from the Fungal Wastes is easy, getting to the Fog Canyon from the Forgotten Crossroads without isma's tear, however, is very difficult, I'v pulled it off before but only after like 20 tries.
