I don't want to say much because it will be spoilers, but you will be able to get back out a few ways depending on how much you advance through, you may fight a boss, you may find a stag station. The game actually becomes more open at this point.
Yup you all good my friend.
Generally Mantis Lords are rather more mid-near-end-game bosses, so don't worry about it. Keep exploring and have fun :)
You don't have to fight them at all if you don't want to, it's optional, but you will miss out on a charm and you have to find a different way into Deep Nest
I love fighting them right away and get a lot of Deep Nest done before ever going to City of Tears
Yeah I didn't know that I could go to city of tears on my first play through and I did almost all I could of deepnest and got so frustrated because my nail wasn't upgraded either but fighting Mantis Lords on the non-upgraded Nail was quite fun
