Ori vs Hollow Knight
Is this game like "Ori" or not? I mean it's that hard or not?

Depends on what you call hard.

It can be hard both combat wise and platform wise, but the hardest fights and platform sections are optional content you must do only if you are going for other endings that are not the common one.

Other than that there may be some challenging fights but not rock hard ones.

Ori is more plataforming and puzzles, the metroidvania part is just weak... You don't have to go back, the game seny you to the places where you should be.

Hollow Knight is more a metroidvania.

Difficulty is interesting to discuss between these two games. Initially, as in, first playthroughs, I would say that Hollow Knight is a fair margin harder than Ori. However, after completing each game multiple times, and also completing each game without dying once, I have found that I would personally favor my chances of a no-death run of HK rather than a no-death run of Ori.

That would largely be because you can be insta-killed in Ori by a random laser whereas in HK you have to make a series of mistakes in a boss fight, or otherwise just go in unprepared. Once you get the patterns of bosses in HK you start to feel a little untouchable. I'm going to try an Overcharmed-always playthrough in HK as a sort of nuzlocke to jack up the difficulty.

For me Ori is generally an easier game but those chase sequences are evil and harder than anything I have met in Hollow Knight so far, you beat the bosses in this when you learn their moves and patterns, you complete the chase sequence by try again try again try again x 50.

Its maybe because the old kind of difficult of Ori, maybe easier in the battle and plataforming but with less tries.

What does overcharmed nuzzlocke look like? I've heard nuzlocke used in Pokemon where you only use the first pokemon you catch in each zone, but that mechanic doesn't apply here I don't think?

Overcharmed means that you take double damage (say you've got 5 notches, and you've got 4 of em filled, if you overcharm you can put any charm that costs 2 or more on that 5th notch in return for taking double damage).

Steel Soul mode is one life for the entire game. You die and it's back to the beginning.

So it's basically Hard Mode Permadeath.

I found Hollow Knight waaaay harder than Ori. The only problem I had in Ori are the "escape the collapsing dungeon" platform sequences, but even then it didn't take too many tries.

I had way more frustration with the bosses in Hollow Knight and had to resort to a little cheating to get the game's "true" ending.

I haven't played Ori but I have beaten (not 100% mind you) Hollow Knight and is currently playing a steel soul run. If you are playing just to the beat the game, it isn't that difficult. Maybe one or two of the manditory bosses will actually mess you up. But if you want to, you can go out of your way to fight optional bosses. Generally speaking, these guys are tough as nails.

I play all games on normal/Medium difficulty if there is an option. Ori and Hollow knight are similar in some ways but are very different games. I like a challenge but find the difficulty of Hollow Knight to be too much for me. Obviously everyone here is fine with it but I got through about 70% of the game and have permanently put it down. I got that far as I wanted to not feel as if I'd wasted my money but decided that I am happier not playing the game. I played Ori and love everything about it. It had some difficult platforming but I didn't feel hopeless. I played and enjoyed Dark Souls. I wasn't about to play Part 2 as while I did play part one, I wasn't going to put myself through that again. It is mainly the boss battles on Hollow Knight that made me actually not like the game. They weren't fun at all.

These are the opinions of someone who played and found Ori slightly difficult but beat it and really enjoyed it, found Ninja Gaiden on xbox 360 fairly difficult but enjoyed it and beat it and found Dark Souls very difficult but beat it and had no interest in going through it again. I felt that the second or extra boss battles were just cheap.

You'll enjoy this game if you like really difficult games. Of course there are those who think that calling the game easy somehow makes them macho.

^ This.

Also, the Definitive Edition of Ori has an Easy mode. Hollow Knight doesn't.

Isn't that a good thing by these standards then?
