So, for all newer players / people finding the game to be too difficult:
There's a Mod to make Hollow Knight easier, called "EasyMode".

The EasyMode Mod does the following: (info taken from ReadMe)
- All charm costs are reduced by 1.
- Sitting at a bench gives 2 free lifeblood masks.
- Nail damage is increased, using the formula dmg = 8 + 5 * upgrades. (instead of dmg = 5 + 4 * upgrades)
- Soul collection is increased by 6 per nail hit. (with no charms, 2 hits now allows a spell or focus)
- Focus time is reduced by half.
- Dying no longer loses geo or causes a shade to spawn.

How to install:
- Download the latest Mod Manager / Mod Installer (EasyMode mod requires it)
> https://www.nexusmods.com/hollowknight/mods/9?tab=files
(click: Manual download, Login, Slow download, Save File)
- Double-click the exe.
- If asked, point to your Hollow Knight installation folder. (something like: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Hollow Knight)
- The program will download a list of public Holow Knight mods.
- In this list you can install, uninstall, enable, disable, and read info about all the mods.
- Install "SeanprCore" from the list. (EasyMode mod requires it)
- Install "EasyMode" from the list.
- When installed, whille keeping the program running, start up Hollow Knight.
- At the start-up of Hollow Knight you will see text in the upper-left corner indicating the mods running you just installed. (if not you did something wrong)
- Play the game. Good Luck. Have Fun.

If the Mod Installer doesn't work, the current version of the game might not support it.
Solution: go to Steam > right-click Hollow Knight > Properties > Betas > 1.4.3.2
The Mod Installer should work on that version of the game.

Here's a Google Docs list of all the mods in the Mod Manager / Installer:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cz5tcggpGofrBcM90XyTkMWjMelDHzugvQM6HpB13Ew/edit

I did not make this mod, installer or list.
But thanks to those who made all these.

(Oh yeah, one last thing: I did not use this mod to complete the game, I just right now looked it up and tested it for someone else having trouble playing the game)

Commenting as a way to subscribe and bookmark this. While I don't need an easy mode, I'm getting my mom into video games, so if she ever gets to the Hollow Knight level, I'll totally remember this for her.

Thanks for posting! :)

Thank you, thank you so much for this. As an adult with several handicaps, but a never-ending affection for beautiful games, I could't enjoy this masterpiece without way too much suffering involved. This will allow me to finally breathe and enjoy the game at the same difficulty level a normal person experience. You have no idea how much this mean to me, I wish you a wonderful life full of people improving it, like you did for me \o/

does that still work? and is it safe? cause i wanna try it
also, will i get the achievements on steam if i use this mod?

That's cool and its a good thing there are a few people here who need it and are happy with it, but honestly the best way to enjoy the game is without any mods. To each their own.
I feel like this is good, but I also feel like most new players would want the pure, untampered experience right?:hollowknight: (emoticon for steam achievement, just ignore it)

does the easy mode mod stack damage with the bonfire stat increase mod?

I'm getting a message that the installer requires the most recent stable version to run. Please update your game to current stable patch and then try again. Any thoughts? I have only installed the versions that came by default.

You need version 1.4.3.2.
Right-click Hollow Knight in your Steam library, click Properties, Betas, and select 1.4.3.2.

IMO using cheatengine speedhack to slow down difficult fights and platforming should also be considered.

That's difinenetely needed. So, I maybe swallow my pride and use it because I need to stop this suffering. 2 years ago I made out of rage a negative review for the game, and I still so salty and believe the game totally deserves it, lol.
P.S. I've managed to Radiance in 40 hrs. And I'm 6 hrs trying to beat her. It's my second walktrough. On the first one I rage quitted on the White Palace.

I want a mod that makes folks do the Path of Pain twice, dammit. ;-)
