Lost my way
After beating Hornet I've been scurrying around aimlessly and don't know where to go. Followed the Pilgrim's way all the way down where there I found a straight wall blocking my way with these mushrooms that you really cannot jump off from. If only someone can knock me into right direction with minimum spoilers that would be superb.

this might seems obvious, but have you bought a map? really helps to keep track of which area you haven't explored
The path of progression is Crossroads, then Greenpath, then Fungal Wastes. After that, the game really opens up, so you have to decide for yourself where you want to go.
There are 3 paths you can take after Fungal Wastes; Crystal Peak(which requires buying a lantern from an npc), City of Tears(which is the recommended path), and Deepnest(which should be avoided until later).
But just a heads up the main boss of Fungal Wastes is optional, and an npc will even tell you that you should challenge them when your stronger, though they are a traveling npc so they're easy to miss.

Yes I have a map, compass and whatnots. I've been to Fungal Wastes over and over again, but still it's a dead end - I just don't get it what I am missing there. Haven't bought lantern because farming 1800 Geo now that I have already spent ten hours and got this "far" hasn't felt ideal thing to do.

What items do you have in your inventory right now?
Also, some areas will be nearly impossible to navigate without the lantern, and some will be outright inaccessable.

I have Mothwing Cloak, Map and Quill, City Crest and Rancid Egg. And yes, of course I will get the lantern, it's just that the price already says to purchase it bit later, no?

So you do not have the Mantis Claw? Then you haven't been very far into the Fungal Wastes.
Describe the dead end you hit. By any chance is it a room with round purple fungus? Because you can do jump+down+nail to bounce on those.

Thanks, I gotta go and try that. I did jump on the damn fungi all I could, but I never realized to hit them!
Nail Bouncing is an integral part of the core gameplay. With your nail, you can bounce on spike, enemies, and other objects in the environment.
There are 3 charms that can make nail-bouncing easier;
Longnail- a relatively early-game charm that increases your reach by 15%. It can be bought from an npc named Salubra the Slug. She lives near the place where you first find Sly.
Mark of Pride- a mid-game charm that increases your reach by 25%. It is actually in Fungal Wastes, but you can only get this charm after beating the Fungal Wastes boss, which as I previously mentioned, is one you should come back to when your stronger.
Quickslash- a late-game charm that makes your nail swings almost instananeous. They actually had to increase the number of slots it costs to equip because it was to overpowered.

Yeah, I notice in fight against Hornet that I could bounce from her needle, but didn't understand deeper meaning of the mechanism I see. Thank you kindly!

Hit mushrooms in air (x + down on gamepad) and you will bounce higher. Also get mantis claw.

I got the Mantis claw and I even bought the lantern. Haven't visisted the dark cave in the Crossroads after a while, but there was closed gate wan't there? On the other hand, in the Fungal Wastes, the "left path" (starting from the shortcut when aproaching from the Queen's Station) ends to area with acid baths I think are not traverseable or I am again missing some vital game mechanic and on the "right path" I just run into a dead end with two mushroom warriors after the Mantis village.

I absolutely love and adore this game, but it also makes me feel mentally handicapped.

Was the area with the Shroomal Warriors near where you get the Dashmaster charm?

Congrats now the game opens up a lot, you can follow hornet on fungal wastes, keep exploring where you got the mantis claw, go to that mysterious dark closed door on crossroads (actually there is one) etc...
