No indication of how many grubs I've rescued?
How do I review how many I've rescued? Also it'd be nice if there were map markers for ones you've already rescued.

Later in the game, there is an item that will show you the location of all the grubs you havnt rescued yet.

Go to the Grubfather's room in the Crossroads, you can count how many grubs you've found so far. As Damos mentions, there's an item that'll show you which ones you haven't gotten yet that you can obtain later in the game.
